A method for configuring the operation of the software of a data as a service (DAAS) system during run time is described. The configuring includes receiving a match query from a customer relationship management system that transmitted the match query responsive to a user using an interface to trigger an update of records in the customer relationship management system that were previously imported from the DAAS system, querying for records in the dataset that match records in the customer relationship management system previously imported from the DAAS system, the querying configured at run time according to metadata that identifies, for records in the dataset, a field to match on and a match threshold, and producing a match query result that includes records in the dataset to be imported to update records that were previously imported from the DAAS system.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for configuring the operation of software of a data as a service (DAAS) system during run time, wherein the DAAS system offers data in a dataset provided by a data provider, comprising: receiving at the DAAS system a request for data to create or update one or more records of a customer relationship management (CRM) system; configuring the DAAS system at run time with metadata that maps data of the dataset to one or more fields within the one or more records of the CRM system, wherein the metadata is used by the DAAS system to configure: a search service of the DAAS system at run time to search the dataset for new data; and a match service of the DAAS system to match one or more existing records of the CRM system to data of the dataset; responsive to the request, accessing, by the DAAS system, data in the dataset that are related to the one or more records of the CRM system based on the metadata; and producing, by the DAAS system, a result that includes the data that was accessed for the one or more records of the CRM system. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the request is responsive to a user using an interface to trigger creation or update of the one or more records. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving, responsive to a user using an interface, the metadata. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the metadata configures mappings between fields of records in the dataset and fields of records of the CRM system. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the search of the dataset for new data includes use of a search string from the CRM system which includes a relation of at least one field of the one or more records of the CRM system. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the match of the one or more existing records comprises use of match keys to select data from the dataset that matches the one or more fields within the one or more records of the CRM system. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the metadata includes a match threshold. 8. A system comprising: a set of one or more processors; and a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium that provides instructions that, if executed, are configurable to cause the system to perform operations of a data as a service (DAAS) during run time, wherein the DAAS offers data in a dataset provided by a data provider, the operations comprising: receiving at the DAAS a request for data to create or update one or more records of a customer relationship management (CRM) service, configuring the DAAS at run time with metadata that maps data of the dataset to one or more fields within the one or more records of the CRM service, wherein the metadata is used by the DAAS to configure: a search service of the DAAS at run time to search the dataset for new data; and a match service of the DAAS to match one or more existing records of the CRM service to data of the dataset; responsive to the request, accessing, by the DAAS, data in the dataset that are related to the one or more records of the CRM service based on the metadata, and producing, by the DAAS, a result that includes the data that was accessed for the one or more records of the CRM service. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the request is responsive to a user using an interface allows the user to trigger creation or update of the one or more records. 10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise: receiving, responsive to a user using an interface, the metadata. 11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the metadata configures mappings between fields of records in the dataset and fields of records of the CRM service. 12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the search of the dataset for new data includes use of a search string from the CRM service which includes a relation of at least one field of records of the CRM service. 13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the match of the one or more existing records comprises use of match keys to select data from the dataset that matches the one or more fields within the one or more records of the CRM service. 14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the metadata includes a match threshold. 15. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed a system, cause the system to perform operations of a data as a service (DAAS) during run time, wherein the DAAS offers records in a dataset provided by a data provider, the operations comprising: receiving at the DAAS a request for data to create or update one or more records of a customer relationship management (CRM) service, configuring the DAAS at run time with metadata that maps data of the dataset to one or more fields within the one or more records of the CRM service, wherein the metadata is used by the DAAS to configure: a search service of the DAAS at run time to search the dataset for new data; and a match service of the DAAS to match one or more existing records of the CRM service to data of the dataset; responsive to the request, accessing, by the DAAS, data in the dataset that are related to the one or more records of the CRM service based on the metadata, and producing, by the DAAS, a result that includes the data that was accessed for the one or more records of the CRM service. 16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the request is responsive to a user using an interface allows the user to trigger creation or update of the one or more records. 17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the metadata configures mappings between fields of records in the dataset and fields of records of the CRM service. 18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the search of the dataset for new data includes use of a search string from the CRM service which includes a relation of at least one field of records of the CRM service. 19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the match of the one or more existing records comprises use of match keys to select data from the dataset that matches the one or more fields within the one or more records of the CRM service. 20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the metadata includes a match threshold.
