New self-threading cords, tapes, cables and/or ropes (“ties”) are provided, with a plurality of ports through their length. In some embodiments, a perimeter of each of the ports matches at least one first perimeter of the tie, and an end of the tie may be threaded through any of the ports (a.k.a., “self-threading” the tie). In some embodiments, ridges are provided on or about at least part of the tie. In some embodiments, the ridges may be threaded through the ports, and the ridges hold the tie in a fastened position. Due to the plurality of ports and possible self-threading actions, a wide variety of fastening actions may be carried out.

The invention claimed is: 1. A tie for fastening at least one object, comprising: at least one section of said tie comprising a plurality of ports; at least one first subsection of said section of said tie including at least one curved first perimeter on an outer surface of said first subsection; at least one second subsection of said section of said tie, comprising at least one exterior ridge of said tie, wherein said at least one second subsection, at said at least one exterior ridge, comprises at least one second perimeter on an outer surface of said second subsection wherein said second perimeter is larger than said first perimeter; wherein each of said ports is of a size matching and complementary to said at least one first perimeter of said at least one first subsection of said section of said tie; and wherein said tie comprises a non-flattened profile, and a flexible material. 2. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein said at least one exterior ridge comprises an edge, pawl or other ratcheting feature, configured to prevent an end from backing out of one of said plurality of ports. 3. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 2 , wherein said edge, pawl or other ratcheting feature does not prevent self-threading of said tie in a direction opposite to said backing out. 4. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein said section of said tie comprises at least one other ridge, at least partially defining at least one of said plurality of ports. 5. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 4 , wherein said at least one other ridge comprises an edge, pawl or other ratcheting feature, configured to prevent an end from backing out of one of said plurality of ports. 6. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein said at least one section of said tie comprises at least one barb, having a different shape and size than said at least one exterior ridge. 7. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said plurality of ports is reduced in size when said at least one section of said tie is inserted into another of said plurality of ports. 8. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein the tie comprises a bent shape, camber or other structural bias causing said tie to curl, and aiding in initiating self-threading of an end of said tie through at least one of said plurality of ports. 9. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 8 , wherein said bent shape, said camber or said other structural bias is configured to cause said end of said tie to lift away from a spool on which said tie is wound. 10. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 8 , wherein said bent shape, said camber or said other structural bias is configured to cause said tie to wind around and bind with itself and/or said at least one object. 11. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein said tie is substantially flat. 12. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 11 , wherein said tie comprises a bent shape, camber or other structural bias, and wherein said bent shape, said camber or said other structural bias causes an edge of said tie to lift away from a spool or said at least one object. 13. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 12 , wherein said edge manifests a visible color difference relative to a remainder of said tie when said edge is lifted away from said spool. 14. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein said tie is substantially rounded. 15. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein said material is nylon. 16. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 1 , wherein said tie is configured to be broken into any of several pre-determined lengths by hand, by applying a force of less magnitude than a tensile holding force of said tie, wherein said force of less magnitude is applied in a different direction than said tensile holding force. 17. The tie for fastening the at least one object of claim 16 , wherein said force of less magnitude may be applied by twisting and/or bending said at least one section relative to at least one other parts of said tie. 18. A method for fastening at least one object, comprising the following steps: wrapping a tie around and/or about at least part of said at least one object, said tie comprising: at least one section of said tie comprising a plurality of ports; at least one first subsection of said section of said tie including at least one curved first outer perimeter on an outer surface of said first subsection; at least one second subsection of said section of said tie, comprising at least one exterior ridge, wherein said at least one second subsection, at said at least one exterior ridge, comprises at least one second perimeter on an outer surface of said second subsection wherein said second perimeter is larger than said first perimeter; wherein each of said ports is of a size matching and complementary to said at least one first outer perimeter of said at least one first subsection of said section of said tie; and wherein said tie comprises a non-flattened profile, and a flexible material; and threading an end of said tie through at least one of said plurality of ports, holding said tie in place around and/or about said at least part of said at least one object.
