A method of forming a medical device contact element includes annealing an elongated rod of Ti-15Mo alloy material to form an annealed rod having a Young's Modulus of less than 13.5 Mpsi and an elastic range or strain of at least 0.7%. Then forming a contact ring element from the annealed rod and assembling the contact ring element into a medical device. Contact rings and lead receptacles including the same are also described.

What is claimed is: 1. A contact ring element for electrically coupling a medical lead to an implantable medical device, comprising: a tubular body formed from a solid, annealed rod of Ti-15Mo alloy material having an outer diameter between 2 mm and 10 mm, a Young's Modulus of less than 13.5 Mpsi, an elastic range or strain of at least 0.7%, and 0.1 to 3% by weight of alpha-phase titanium, the tubular body defining a cavity configured to receive a lead and an outer diameter between 1.2 mm and 5 mm; and a plurality of resiliently deflectable elements extending from the tubular body into the cavity, each of the resiliently deflectable elements having a lead contacting portion configured to contact a lead when the lead is received in the cavity, wherein the resiliently deflectable elements are formed of the Ti-15Mo alloy material having the Young's Modulus of less than 13.5 Mpsi, the elastic range or strain of at least 0.7%, and the 0.1 to 3% by weight of alpha-phase titanium. 2. The contact ring element according to claim 1 wherein the tubular body and the plurality of resiliently deflectable elements form a monolithic contact ring element. 3. The contact ring element according to claim 1 wherein the Ti-15Mo alloy material has a Young's Modulus of less than 12 Mpsi and an elastic range or strain of at least 0.9%. 4. The contact ring element according to claim 1 wherein the tubular body is formed of the Ti-15Mo alloy material having a Young's Modulus of less than 12 Mpsi and an elastic range upper value or strain value in a range of 1.2 to 2.0%. 5. The contact ring element according to claim 1 wherein the tubular body is formed of the Ti-15Mo alloy material having a mean average grain size of less than 30 micrometers. 6. The contact ring element according to claim 1 wherein the tubular body has an outer diameter between 2.5 mm and 2.8 mm. 7. The contact ring element according to claim 1 wherein the tubular body has a thickness between 0.25 mm and 2.5 mm. 8. The contact ring element according to claim 1 wherein the tubular body is formed of the Ti-15Mo alloy material having a mean average grain size of up to 20 micrometers. 9. A lead receptacle for electrically coupling a medical lead to an implantable medical device, comprising: a contact ring element according to claim 1 ; and an insulating ring axially aligned with the contact ring element. 10. A contact ring element for electrically coupling a medical lead to an implantable medical device, comprising: a tubular body formed from a solid, annealed rod of Ti-15Mo alloy material having an outer diameter between 2 mm and 10 mm, a Young's Modulus of less than 13.5 Mpsi, a mean average grain size value of up to 30 micrometers, alpha-phase titanium in an amount of 0.1 to 3 wt %, and an elastic range or strain of at least 0.7%, the tubular body defining a cavity configured to receive a lead and an outer diameter between 1.2 mm and 5 mm; and a plurality of resiliently deflectable elements extending from the tubular body into the cavity, each of the resiliently deflectable elements having a lead contacting portion configured to contact a lead when the lead is received in the cavity, wherein the resiliently deflectable elements are formed of the Ti-15Mo alloy material having the Young's Modulus of less than 13.5 Mpsi, the mean average grain size value of up to 30 micrometers, the alpha-phase titanium in an amount of 0.1 to 3 wt %, and the elastic range or strain of at least 0.7%. 11. The contact ring element according to claim 10 wherein the tubular body and the plurality of resiliently deflectable elements form a monolithic contact ring element. 12. The contact ring element according to claim 10 wherein the Ti-15Mo alloy material has a Young's Modulus of less than 12 Mpsi and an elastic range or strain of at least 0.9%. 13. The contact ring element according to claim 10 wherein the Ti-15Mo alloy material has alpha-phase titanium in a range from 0.1 to 2 weight percent. 14. The contact ring element according to claim 13 wherein the tubular body is formed of the Ti-15Mo alloy material having a Young's Modulus of less than 12 Mpsi and an elastic range upper value or strain value in a range of 1.2 to 2.0%. 15. The contact ring element according to claim 10 wherein the tubular body has an outer diameter between 2.5 mm and 2.8 mm. 16.
