What is claimed is: 1. An automated external defibrillator (AED) comprising: a container containing electrode pads; a lid covering the container; and a handle with a lifting mechanism coupled to the lid at a first attachment point located at an edge of the lid and at a second attachment point located at the edge of the lid, wherein the handle is a different color than the container, wherein the lifting mechanism is an integrally-formed part of the handle, wherein a first portion of the lifting mechanism is located along the edge of the lid between the first attachment point and the handle, wherein a second portion of the lifting mechanism is located along the edge of the lid between the second attachment point and the handle, and wherein only one portion of the lifting mechanism is attached to the handle. 2. The AED of claim 1 , wherein the handle is a different color than the lid. 3. The AED of claim 1 , wherein the container is located in a base portion of the AED. 4. The AED of claim 1 , wherein the lid has a rectangular shape with rounded corners. 5. The AED of claim 1 , wherein the edge is a round edge. 6. The AED of claim 1 , wherein the lifting mechanism is coupled to the lid via fasteners. 7. The AED of claim 1 , wherein the handle is at a side of the lid between a first corner of the lid and a second corner of the lid. 8. The AED of claim 1 , wherein: the first attachment point is spaced apart from the handle; and the second attachment point is spaced apart from the handle. 9. An assembly for use with an automated external defibrillator (AED), the assembly comprising: a container containing electrode pads; a lid covering the container; and a handle with a lifting mechanism coupled to the lid at a first attachment point located at an edge of the lid and at a second attachment point located at the edge of the lid, wherein the handle is a different color than the lid, wherein the lifting mechanism is an integrally-formed part of the handle, wherein a first portion of the lifting mechanism is located along the edge of the lid between the first attachment point and the handle, wherein a second portion of the lifting mechanism is located along the edge of the lid between the second attachment point and the handle, and wherein only one portion of the lifting mechanism is attached to the handle. 10. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the container is configured to be located in a base portion of the AED. 11. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein, when a pull force is applied to the handle, the lifting mechanism is configured to transfer the pull force to the lid at the first attachment point and at the second attachment point. 12. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the container is a rigid container. 13. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the electrode pads are sealed within the container. 14. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the lid has a rectangular shape with rounded corners. 15. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the edge is a round edge. 16. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the lifting mechanism is separate from the lid. 17. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the lifting mechanism is coupled to the lid via fasteners. 18. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein: the first attachment point is spaced apart from the handle; and the second attachment point is spaced apart from the handle. 19. The assembly of claim 9 , wherein the handle is a different color than the container. 20. The AED of claim 1 , wherein the lifting mechanism is separate from the lid.
