Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A saw blade includes an elongated blade body having a first end portion, a second end portion, and a cutting edge portion. An exposed first tool holder portion is coupled to the first end portion and is configured to removably mount the blade body in a blade holder of a powered saw. An unexposed second tool holder portion is defined by a first score in the blade body between the first end portion and the second end portion. The first score is configured so that the second tool holder portion can be exposed by breaking off a first removable portion of the blade body at the first score. The second tool holder portion is configured to removably mount the blade body in a blade holder of a powered saw when the second tool holder portion is exposed.

What is claimed is: 1. A saw blade comprising: a blade body extending along an axis and including a first end portion and a second end portion, the first end portion including a first cutting edge portion and a first side edge portion joined by an exposed first pointed tip portion, and the second end portion coupled to the first end portion opposite the first pointed tip portion and including a second cutting edge portion and a second side edge portion joined by an unexposed second pointed tip portion; a first tool holder portion devoid of a cutting edge and coupled to and extending away from the second end portion opposite the first end portion, the first tool holder portion configured to be removably mountable to a blade holder of a powered saw; a first score defined in the blade body between the first end portion and the second end portion, the blade body configured to be breakable along the first score; wherein, in a first configuration, the blade body is unbroken along the first score and mounted to the blade holder of the powered saw, and the first cutting edge portion and the first pointed tip portion are exposed and configured to be used to cut a workpiece, and wherein, in a second configuration, the blade body is broken along the first score to remove a first removable portion of the blade body, a remainder of the blade body is mounted to the blade holder of the powered saw, and the second cutting edge portion and the second pointed tip portion are exposed and configured to be used to cut the workpiece. 2. The saw blade of claim 1 , further comprising a second tool holder portion defined by the first score line, the second tool holder exposed only when the first removable portion has been removed from the blade body. 3. The saw blade of claim 2 , wherein, in the first configuration, only the first tool holder portion is mountable to the blade holder of the powered saw. 4. The saw blade of claim 3 , wherein, in the second configuration, only the second tool holder portion is mountable to the blade holder of the powered saw. 5. The saw blade of claim 1 , wherein the first cutting edge portion and the second cutting edge portion each are exposed when the blade body is unbroken along the first score. 6. The saw blade of claim 1 , wherein the first removable portion includes the second end portion. 7. The saw blade of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the first score is formed by a first score line having a predetermined depth in a face of the blade body. 8. The saw blade of claim 7 , wherein the first score line is V-shaped in cross section. 9. The saw blade of claim 7 , wherein at least a portion of the first score is further formed by a second score line having a predetermined depth in opposite face of the blade body. 10. A saw blade comprising: an elongated blade body having a first end portion, a second end portion, a cutting edge extending from the first end portion to the second end portion, and an opposite back edge extending from the first end portion to the second end portion; an exposed first tool holder portion coupled to the first end portion and devoid of a cutting edge, the first tool holder portion configured to removably mount the blade body in a blade holder of a powered saw; and an unexposed second tool holder portion defined by a first score in the blade body between the first end portion and the second end portion, wherein the first score is configured so that the second tool holder portion can be exposed by breaking off a first removable portion of the blade body along the first score, and wherein the second tool holder portion is configured to removably mount the blade body in a blade holder of a powered saw when the second tool holder portion is exposed. 11. The saw blade of claim 10 , wherein the first removable portion includes the second end portion. 12. The saw blade of claim 10 , wherein at least a portion of the first score is formed by a first score line having a predetermined depth in one face of the body. 13. The saw blade of claim 12 , wherein the first score line is V-shaped in cross section. 14. The saw blade of claim 12 , wherein at least a portion of the first score is further formed by a second score line having a predetermined depth in opposite face of the body. 15. The saw blade of claim 10 , wherein the second end portion has a first front edge extending from the back edge to the cutting edge and intersecting the cutting edge at an acute angle to form a pointed tip. 16. The saw blade of claim 15 , further comprising a second score between the first end portion and the second end portion. 17. The saw blade of claim 16 , wherein the second score defines an unexposed second front edge extending from the back edge to the cutting edge and intersecting the cutting edge at an acute angle to form a second pointed tip. 18. The saw blade of claim 17 , wherein the second score is configured so that the second front edge can be exposed by breaking off a second removable portion of the blade body at the second score. 19. The saw blade of claim 18 , wherein the second removable portion includes the first end portion. 20. A saw blade comprising: a blade body having a first end, a second end, a cutting edge extending along the blade body between the first end and the second end, and an opposite back edge extending along the blade body between the first end and the second end; an exposed first tool holder portion coupled to the first end and devoid of a cutting edge, the first tool holder portion configured to removably mount the blade body in a blade holder of a powered saw; an unexposed second tool holder portion defined in a first intermediate portion of the blade body between the first end and the second end, wherein the first intermediate portion is configured so that the second tool holder portion can be exposed by removing a first removable portion of the blade body from the first intermediate portion, and the second tool holder portion, when exposed, is configured to removably mount the blade body in a blade holder of a powered saw.
