Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An over-the-door hanging apparatus includes a support structure extending along a longitudinal axis and having a rear surface. A first mounting bracket that is elongated in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the support structure is coupled to the rear surface of the support structure. A bracket assembly may include a first elongate member having a first bracket that is configured to engage a top edge of a door, a second elongate member having a second bracket that is configured to engage the top edge of the door, and at least one mounting element. The support structure may be configured to be mounted to the bracket assembly through engagement between the at least one mounting element of the bracket assembly and the first mounting bracket.

What is claimed is: 1. An over-the-door hanging apparatus comprising: a mirror apparatus comprising: a frame defining an opening and having a rear surface; at least one first mounting element coupled to the rear surface of the frame; and a mirror located within the opening and coupled to the frame; a bracket assembly comprising: at least one bracket configured to engage a top edge of a door; and at least one second mounting element that is configured to interact with the first mounting element on the rear surface of the frame while the at least one bracket is engaged with the top edge of the door to hang the mirror apparatus from the door. 2. The over-the-door hanging apparatus kit-according to claim 1 wherein the bracket assembly is configured to be coupled to the at least one first mounting element without the use of any tools. 3. The over-the-door hanging apparatus according to claim 1 further comprising: the at least one second mounting element comprising a plurality of the second mounting elements that are spaced apart in a vertical direction when the at least one bracket is engaged with the top edge of the door, and wherein the first mounting element of the mirror apparatus is configured to engage at least a selected one of the plurality of the second mounting elements to mount the mirror apparatus to the bracket assembly at a desired hanging height. 4. A hanging assembly including a support structure and a bracket assembly, the bracket assembly being suitable for hanging the support structure from a top edge of a door, the hanging assembly comprising: the support structure comprising at least one first mounting element; the bracket assembly comprising: a bracket that is configured to be positioned over the top edge of the door to hang the bracket assembly from the door; and at least one second mounting element; and wherein the at least one first mounting element of the support structure and the at least one second mounting element of the bracket assembly are configured to engage one another while the bracket is positioned over the top edge of the door to hang the support structure from the door. 5. The hanging assembly according to claim 4 further comprising: the at least one first mounting element comprises a plurality of the first mounting elements; and wherein the at least one second mounting element is configured to engage at least a selected one of the plurality of the first mounting elements to set the support structure at a desired hanging height relative to the top edge of the door when the bracket assembly is hanging from the top edge of the door, and wherein changing which of the plurality of first mounting elements is the selected one of the plurality of first mounting elements changes the desired hanging height. 6. The hanging assembly according to claim 4 further comprising: the at least one second mounting element comprises a plurality of the second mounting elements; and wherein the at least one first mounting element is configured to engage at least a selected one of the plurality of the second mounting elements to set the support structure at a desired hanging height relative to the top edge of the door when the bracket assembly is hanging from the top edge of the door, and wherein changing which of the plurality of second mounting elements is the selected one of the plurality of second mounting elements changes the desired hanging height. 7. The hanging assembly according to claim 4 further comprising: the support structure comprising a longitudinal axis, the at least one first mounting element located on a first side of the longitudinal axis, and at least one third mounting element located on a second side of the longitudinal axis; the bracket assembly comprising: a first elongate member comprising the bracket and the at least one second mounting element; and a second elongate member comprising a second bracket configured to fit be positioned over the top edge of the door and at least one fourth mounting element; wherein the at least one second mounting element of the first elongate member is configured to engage the at least one first mounting element of the support structure; and wherein the at least one fourth mounting element of the second elongate member is configured to engage the at least one third mounting element of the support structure. 8. The hanging assembly according to claim 7 further comprising: the at least one second mounting element comprising a plurality of the second mounting elements positioned in a vertically spaced apart manner; the at least one fourth mounting element comprising a plurality of the fourth mounting elements positioned in a vertically spaced apart manner; and wherein a hanging height of the support structure is configured to be adjusted by changing which one of the plurality of the second mounting elements is engaged with the at least one first mounting element of the support structure and changing which one of the plurality of fourth mounting elements is engaged with the at least one third mounting element of the support structure. 9. The hanging assembly according to claim 4 further comprising: a mirror attached to the support structure; and the bracket assembly comprising an elongate member having a first end and a second end, the bracket extending from the second end of the elongate member. 10. The hanging assembly according to claim 9 further comprising: the at least one second mounting element comprising a plurality of the second mounting elements located along the elongate member between the first and second ends in a spaced apart manner; and wherein the at least one first mounting element of the support structure is configured to engage any of one or more of the plurality of second mounting elements of the bracket assembly. 11. An over-the-door hanging apparatus comprising: a mirror apparatus comprising: a frame defining an opening, the frame comprising a rear surface, and an annular channel in the rear surface; and a mirror mounted within the opening; a first elongate bracket member comprising a first bracket, the first elongate bracket member coupled to the mirror apparatus, at least a portion of the first elongate bracket member located within a first vertical portion of the annular channel; and a second elongate bracket member comprising a second bracket, the second elongate bracket member coupled to the mirror apparatus, at least a portion of the second elongate bracket member located within a second vertical portion of the annular channel; and wherein the first and second brackets of the first and second elongate bracket members are configured to engage a top edge of a door to hang the mirror apparatus from the door. 12. The over-the-door hanging apparatus according to claim 11 further comprising: the mirror apparatus comprising a vertical centerline, the first vertical portion of the annular channel located on a first side of the vertical centerline and the second vertical portion of the annular channel located on a second side of the vertical centerline opposite the first side of the vertical centerline; a first mounting structure and a third mounting structure coupled to the frame on the first side of the vertical centerline to couple the first elongate bracket member to the mirror apparatus, wherein the first and third mounting structures are vertically spaced apart from one another; and a second mounting structure and a fourth mounting structure coupled to the frame on the second side of the vertical centerline to couple the second elongate bracket member to the mirror apparatus, wherein the second and fourth mounting structures
