What is claimed is: 1. A payload retrieval apparatus comprising: a base; an autoloader assembly mounted to the base including: a payload holder configured to hold a payload for retrieval by an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV), a channel coupled to the payload holder and configured to direct a payload retriever suspended from the UAV to the payload holder, the channel having a tether slot adapted for receiving a tether having a first end attached to the UAV and a second end attached to the payload retriever, wherein the channel is adapted to receive the payload retriever, and the tether slot of the channel allows for passage of the tether during movement of the payload retriever through the channel; and a locking feature configured to lock access to the payload on the payload holder, the locking feature including a locking member that has a movable end, wherein the locking member has a first position in which the movable end extends through a wall of the channel into an interior of the channel for engagement by the payload retriever as it moves through the channel, wherein when the payload retriever contacts the movable end of the locking member, the movable end moves outwardly thereby moving the locking member to a second position and unlocking the payload on the payload holder; wherein the payload holder is positioned such that when the payload retriever exits the channel, the payload retriever engages a handle of the payload and removes the payload from the payload holder. 2. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the movable end of the locking member is spring-biased into the interior of the channel. 3. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the payload holder includes one or more pins configured to extend through a handle of the payload when the payload is positioned on the payload holder; wherein the locking features includes a locking strap configured to extend over the one or more pins and the handle of the payload; wherein the locking strap includes a latch which is latchable onto the autoloader assembly; and wherein the latch is unlatched when the payload retriever engages the movable end of the locking member and moves the locking member into the second unlocked position. 4. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 3 , where the locking strap also extends over the entire payload. 5. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the payload holder includes one or more pins configured to extend through a handle of the payload when the payload is positioned on the payload holder; wherein the payload holder and payload are retractable into a slot in the autoloader assembly; wherein the locking features includes a sprung cover positioned over the payload holder and payload when the payload holder and payload have been retracted into the slot in the autoloader assembly; wherein the sprung cover includes a latch which is latchable onto the autoloader assembly; and wherein the latch of the sprung cover is unlatched when the payload retriever engages the movable end of the locking member and moves the locking member into the second unlocked position, and moves the payload holder and payload out of the slot and into position for payload retrieval. 6. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the sprung cover is spring-loaded into an open position and the payload holder is spring-loaded into a position for payload retrieval by the payload retriever. 7. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the payload holder includes one or more pins configured to extend through a handle of the payload when the payload is positioned on the payload holder; wherein the payload holder and payload are rotatable into a position within the extending member; wherein the locking feature includes a latch attached to the autoloader assembly when the payload holder and payload have been rotated into position within the autoloader assembly; wherein the latch is unlatched when the payload retriever engages the movable end of the locking member and moves the locking member into the second unlocked position causing the payload holder and payload to rotate out of the autoloader assembly into position for payload retrieval. 8. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the payload holder is spring-loaded to rotate into a position for payload retrieval by the payload retriever. 9. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the payload holder includes one or more of pins configured to extend through a handle of the payload when the payload is positioned on the payload holder; wherein the locking feature includes a gate that extends over the payload holder and payload; wherein the gate includes a latch which is latchable onto the autoloader assembly; and wherein the latch of the gate is unlatched when the payload retriever engages the movable end of the gate and moves the locking member into the second unlocked position and moves the gate from extending over the payload holder and payload. 10. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the gate is a three-dimensional cage. 11. The payload retrieval apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the gate is spring-loaded into an open position where the gate does not extend over the payload holder and payload. 12. A method including: providing a payload retrieval apparatus having a base; an autoloader assembly mounted to the base including: a payload holder configured to hold a payload for retrieval by an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV), a channel coupled to the payload holder and configured to direct a payload retriever suspended from the UAV to the payload holder, the channel having a tether slot adapted for receiving a tether having a first end attached to the UAV and a second end attached to the payload retriever, wherein the channel is adapted to receive the payload retriever, and the tether slot of the channel allows for passage of the tether during movement of the payload retriever through the channel; and a locking feature configured to lock access to the payload on the payload holder, the locking feature including a locking member that has a movable end, wherein the locking member has a first position in which the movable end extends through a wall of the channel into an interior of the channel for engagement by the payload retriever as it moves through the channel, wherein when the payload retriever contacts the movable end of the locking member, the movable end moves outwardly thereby moving the locking member to a second position and unlocking the payload on the payload holder; and wherein the payload holder is positioned such that when the payload retriever exits the channel, the payload retriever engages a handle of the payload and removes the payload from the payload holder; and causing the payload retriever to pass through the channel and engage the movable end of the locking member to unlock access to the payload holder and payload. 13. A payload retrieval apparatus comprising: a base; an autoloader assembly mounted to the base including: a payload holder configured to hold a payload for retrieval by an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV), a channel coupled to the payload holder and configured to direct a payload retriever suspended from the UAV to the payload holder, the channel having a tether slot adapted for receiving a tether having a first end attached to the UAV and a second end attached to the payload retriever, wherein the channel is adapted to receive the payload retriever, and the tether slot of the channel allows for passage of the tether during movement of the payload retriever through the channel; and a locking feature configured
