Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present invention relates to an isolated peptide consisting of a sequence of 3 to 39 amino acids derived from the amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 1, said peptide having a sequence of amino acids selected from the group consisting of: a) sequences of 3 to 39 amino acids comprising at least the residues 6 to 8 of SEQ ID NO: 1, and b) sequences of 3 to 39 amino acids having at least 70% identity with said sequence in a).

The invention claimed is: 1. An isolated peptide consisting of a sequence of amino acids selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 5, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 14, SEQ ID NO: 15, SEQ ID NO: 16, and SEQ ID NO: 17, wherein the peptide is amidated at the C-terminal and wherein the peptide is a pro-inflammatory agent that increases expression of C-type lectin receptors on the surface of macrophages. 2. The isolated peptide according to claim 1 wherein the peptide is capable of being bound to the membrane of macrophages derived from monocytes. 3. A pharmaceutical composition, comprising: the peptide according to claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. 4. The isolated peptide according to claim 1 , wherein the peptide has the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 5 and SEQ ID NO: 6 and is amidated at the C-terminal. 5. The isolated peptide according to claim 1 , wherein the peptide has the amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 1 and is amidated at the C-terminal. 6. The isolated peptide according to claim 1 , wherein the peptide acylated at the N-terminal.
