Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An aerosol-generating device is disclosed. The aerosol-generating device includes a container having a first passage; a container head, which is disposed on the container and has a first outlet at a bottom surface to communicate with the first passage; a mouthpiece, which is pivotably connected to the container head and has a second passage; and a sealing cap projecting outwards from the mouthpiece, wherein the sealing cap closes the first outlet when the mouthpiece is pivoted to a first position, and the sealing cap opens the first outlet to allow the first outlet to communicate with the second passage when the mouthpiece is pivoted to a second position.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. An aerosol-generating device comprising: a container having a first passage; a container head, which is disposed on the container and has a first outlet at a bottom surface to communicate with the first passage; a mouthpiece, which is pivotably connected to the container head and has a second passage; and a sealing cap projecting outwards from an exterior surface of the mouthpiece and comprising a first sealing surface such that a space is defined between the first sealing surface and the exterior surface of the mouthpiece, wherein the first sealing surface of the sealing cap closes the first outlet when the mouthpiece is pivoted to a first position, and the first sealing surface of the sealing cap opens the first outlet to allow the first outlet to communicate with the second passage when the mouthpiece is pivoted to a second position. 2. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , further comprising a spring, which is fixed to the container head and is connected to the mouthpiece to move the mouthpiece toward the second position. 3. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the sealing cap includes: an extension, which extends downwards from the mouthpiece; and the first sealing surface, which defines an outer surface of a lower end of the extension. 4. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 3 , wherein the first sealing surface includes a first round portion having a curvature corresponding to a direction in which the mouthpiece is pivoted. 5. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 4 , wherein a center of the curvature of the first round portion is adjacent to a pivot center of the mouthpiece. 6. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 3 , wherein the sealing cap comprises an elastic material, and presses against the first outlet when the mouthpiece is at the first position. 7. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 6 , wherein the first sealing surface extends from the lower end of the extension toward a rear of the mouthpiece. 8. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , further comprising a gasket, which projects from the bottom surface of the container head to surround the first outlet, comes into contact with the sealing cap when the mouthpiece is pivoted to the first position, and comes into contact with a rear surface of the mouthpiece when the mouthpiece is pivoted to the second position. 9. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the mouthpiece has an inlet, which is positioned at an end of the second passage and comes into contact with the first outlet when the mouthpiece is pivoted to the second position, has a sealing surface defining an outer surface around the inlet, and includes a portion that has a curvature corresponding to a direction in which the mouthpiece is pivoted. 10. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the second passage is oriented to extend vertically when the mouthpiece is pivoted to the second position. 11. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the mouthpiece includes a pivot center, which extends perpendicular to a vertical direction. 12. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the mouthpiece has: an inlet, which is positioned at one end of the second passage and which comes into contact with the first outlet when the mouthpiece is pivoted to the second position; and a second outlet, which is positioned at the other end of the second passage, wherein a distance between a pivot center of the mouthpiece and the second outlet is greater than a distance between the pivot center and the inlet. 13. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , further comprising a housing, which has a reception space in which a cartridge is inserted, wherein an upper portion of the housing has a seating portion corresponding to a depressed portion of the upper portion, the seating portion having a shape corresponding to the mouthpiece to seat the mouthpiece when the mouthpiece is pivoted to the first position. 14. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 13 , wherein the mouthpiece has a holding groove, which is depressed inwards from a side surface thereof, and wherein the seating portion includes a holding protrusion, which projects inwards from a side surface thereof and removably engages with the holding groove. 15. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 13 , further comprising an upper case, which surrounds the upper portion of the housing and has an opening to receive the mouthpiece, wherein the mouthpiece closes the opening when the mouthpiece is pivoted to the first position. 16. The aerosol-generating device according to claim 15 , wherein the second passage is disposed in the upper case when the mouthpiece is pivoted to the first position.
