Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A multi-purpose, hand-held flashlight has an elongated body with a front body portion having a bottle opener and a front engaging structure. The elongated body also includes a rear body portion with a rear engaging structure that is cooperatively dimensioned to interact with the front engaging structure to releasably couple the front body portion to the rear body portion. The rear body portion includes a second substantially cone shaped extent that includes a recessed cutting element. A lighting element assembly is disposed within the elongated body and includes a lighting element printed circuit board coupled to an emitter assembly, a power source, and a switch. The switch is configured to change the operational mode of the emitter assembly. An attachment mechanism is coupled to the second extent of the rear body portion.

The invention claimed is: 1. A multi-purpose flashlight, comprising: a body including: an internal receiver; a first body portion having: (i) a first engaging structure, (ii) a substantially cylindrical extent, and (iii) an extent of the internal receiver, and a second body portion having a second engaging structure that is cooperatively dimensioned to interact with the first engaging structure to releasably couple the first body portion to the second body portion; a primary light emitter assembly having a light emitter positioned within the substantially cylindrical extent of the first body portion of the multi-purpose flashlight; a USB receiver coupled to an extent of the body and electrically connected to a rechargeable battery that is positioned within the internal receiver of the elongated body; and a switch: (i) positioned in the first body portion, and (ii) coupled to the light emitter and the rechargeable battery. 2. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 1 , wherein the multi-purpose flashlight meets or exceeds a waterproof standard. 3. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 1 , wherein the first body portion includes a secondary light emitter assembly is positioned between the primary light emitter and the second body portion of the body. 4. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 3 , wherein the secondary light emitter emitted non-white light. 5. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 3 , wherein the secondary light emitter emits light when the switch is depressed to turn “ON” the primary light emitter. 6. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 1 , further comprising an internal compartment in the second body portion. 7. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 1 , wherein the first body portion includes a portion that can rotate, and wherein said rotation of said portion is configured to change a diameter of the light that is emitted from the primary light emitter. 8. A multi-purpose flashlight, comprising: a body including: a first body portion having: (i) a first engaging structure, (ii) a substantially cylindrical extent, and (iii) an extent that is configured to rotate, and a second body portion having: (i) a second engaging structure that is cooperatively dimensioned to interact with the first engaging structure to couple the first body portion to the second body portion, and (ii) a substantially cylindrical extent; a power source positioned within the body; a primary light emitter positioned in the first body portion of the body and coupled to the power source, wherein the primary light emitter is positioned opposite the second body portion, and wherein light that is emitted from the primary light emitter is configured to have a diameter; a switch coupled to the primary light emitter and the power source, and wherein the multi-purpose flashlight meets or exceeds a waterproof standard, and rotation of said extent of the first body is configured to alter the diameter of the light that is emitted from the primary light emitter. 9. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 8 , wherein the power source includes a rechargeable battery coupled to a USB receiver, wherein said USB receiver is coupled to the body. 10. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 8 , wherein the first body portion includes a secondary light emitter assembly is positioned between the primary light emitter and the second body portion of the body. 11. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 10 , wherein the secondary light emitter emits light when the switch is depressed to turn “ON” the primary light emitter. 12. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 11 , wherein the secondary light emitter emitted non-white light. 13. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 12 , wherein an extent of the secondary light emitter assembly is positioned perpendicular to the primary light emitter assembly. 14. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 8 , further comprising an internal compartment in the second body portion. 15. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 8 , wherein the first body portion includes a portion that can rotate, and wherein said rotation of said portion is configured to change a diameter of the light that is emitted from the primary light emitter. 16. A multi-purpose flashlight, comprising: an elongated body including: a first body portion having a first engaging structure, and a second body portion having a second engaging structure that is cooperatively dimensioned to interact with the first engaging structure to couple the first body portion to the second body portion, the second body portion further having a battery; a USB receiver that is integrated into the elongated body and electrically connected to a power source positioned within said elongated body; a primary light emitter assembly that: (i) is positioned in the first body portion of the elongated body, and (ii) is coupled to the power source; a secondary light emitter assembly that: (i) emits non-white light, and (ii) is coupled to the power source; and wherein the multi-purpose flashlight meets or exceeds a waterproof standard. 17. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 16 , further comprising a cutting element coupled to an extent of the elongated body. 18. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 16 , wherein the secondary light emitter emits light when the switch is depressed to turn “ON” the primary light emitter. 19. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 18 , wherein an extent of the secondary light emitter assembly is positioned perpendicular to the primary light emitter assembly. 20. The multi-purpose flashlight of claim 16 , further comprising an internal compartment in the second body portion.
