Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device including: a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations of: receiving a request for a proxy player to continue gameplay on behalf of a player of a game; retrieving data describing characteristics of historical gameplay of the player; and continuing the gameplay by the proxy player, wherein the proxy player performs actions that emulate the player based on the data describing the characteristics of the historical gameplay of the player. Other embodiments are disclosed.

What is claimed is: 1. A device, comprising: a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising: receiving a request for a proxy player to continue gameplay on behalf of a player of a game, wherein the request comprises an indication of one or more conditions to end the gameplay by the proxy player; retrieving data describing characteristics of historical gameplay of the player; providing proxy control to the proxy player for continuing the gameplay by the proxy player, wherein the proxy player performs actions that emulate the player based on the data describing the characteristics of the historical gameplay of the player; determining that the one or more of the conditions to end the gameplay by the proxy player has been satisfied resulting in a determination; based on the determination, ceasing to provide proxy control to the proxy player; and based on the determination, providing control of the gameplay to the player. 2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device comprises a gaming server. 3. The device of claim 2 , wherein the ceasing to provide proxy control to the proxy player comprises ending the gameplay by the proxy player. 4. The device of claim 3 , wherein the one or more conditions to end the gameplay comprises a specific period of time. 5. The device of claim 3 , wherein the one or more conditions to end the gameplay comprises performance of a specified task. 6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving an action from the player; and ending the gameplay by the proxy player. 7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving a second request from the player to end the gameplay by the proxy player; and ending the gameplay by the proxy player. 8. The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving a message from the proxy player; and sending the message to an address associated with the player. 9. The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise storing the data describing the characteristics of the historical gameplay of the player. 10. The device of claim 1 , wherein the processing system comprises a plurality of processors operating in a distributed computing environment. 11. A non-transitory, machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising: receiving a request for a proxy player to continue gameplay on behalf of a player of a game, wherein the request comprises an indication of one or more conditions to end gameplay by the proxy player; retrieving data describing characteristics of historical gameplay of the player; providing proxy control to the proxy player for emulating actions of the player via the proxy player based on the data describing characteristics of the historical gameplay of the player while continuing the gameplay; determining that the one or more of the conditions to end the gameplay by the proxy player has been satisfied resulting in a determination; based on the determining, ceasing to provide proxy control to the proxy player; based on the determination, providing control of the gameplay to the player; and based on the determination, sending a notification of satisfying the one or more conditions. 12. The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the notification is sent to the player via a mobile device. 13. The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the processing system comprises a gaming server. 14. The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the ceasing to provide proxy control to the proxy player comprises ending the gameplay by the proxy player. 15. The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the conditions to end the gameplay comprises a specific period of time. 16. The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the one or more conditions to end the gameplay comprises performance of a milestone. 17. The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving an action from the player; and ending the gameplay by the proxy player. 18. The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the processing system comprises a plurality of processors operating in a distributed computing environment. 19. A method, comprising: receiving, by a processing system including a processor, a request for a proxy player to continue gameplay on behalf of a player of a game, wherein the request comprises an indication of one or more conditions to end the gameplay by the proxy player; retrieving, by the processing system, data reflecting characteristics of historical gameplay of the player; providing, by the processing system, proxy control to the proxy player for facilitating, by the processing system, actions that emulate the player based on the data, wherein the proxy player performs the actions during the gameplay; determining, by the processing system, that the one or more condition to end the gameplay by the proxy player has been satisfied resulting in a determination; based on the determination, ceasing, by the processing system, to provide proxy control to the proxy player; and based on the determination, providing, by the processing system, control of the gameplay to the player. 20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the processing system comprises a gaming server.
