Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present disclosure generally relates to techniques for a displaying a user interface including a visual indication that an electronic device is in a protective charging mode. While the electronic device is in a charging configuration with respect to an external power source, an energy-storage component of the electronic device is charged with power supplied by the external power source. After charging the energy-storage component, a user interface is displayed. When charging of the energy-storage component is stopped before reaching a full charge level, the user interface includes a visual indication that the electronic device is in a protective charging mode in which charging of the energy-storage component is delayed based on predetermined criteria.

What is claimed is: 1. An electronic device, comprising: a display device; an energy-storage component; one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for: while the electronic device is in a charging configuration with respect to an external power source, wherein the energy-storage component is capable of being charged with power supplied by the external power source when the electronic device is in the charging configuration: charging the energy-storage component of the electronic device with power supplied by the external power source; after charging the energy-storage component and determining a charge level of the energy-storage component, displaying a user interface via the display device, wherein: in accordance with a determination that the charge level of the energy-storage component is above a threshold charge level and that charging of the energy-storage component has been stopped before reaching a full charge level, displaying the user interface includes concurrently displaying:  a visual indication that the electronic device is in a protective charging mode in which charging of the energy-storage component has been stopped at a current charge level that is below the full charge level of the energy-storage component, and  a charge level indicator indicating the current charge level of the energy-storage component; and in accordance with a determination that charging of the energy-storage component has not been stopped before reaching the full charge level, displaying the user interface does not include displaying the visual indication that the electronic device is in the protective charging mode. 2. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for: while the electronic device is in the charging configuration with respect to the external power source and while the electronic device is in the protective charging mode, forgoing charging of the energy-storage component. 3. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for: after displaying the user interface including the visual indication that the electronic device is in the protective charging mode and the charge level indicator indicating the current charge level of the energy-storage component: in accordance with a determination that charging of the energy-storage component has resumed, ceasing to include the visual indication that the electronic device is in the protective charging mode in the user interface. 4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for: after displaying the user interface including the visual indication that the electronic device is in the protective charging mode and the charge level indicator indicating the current charge level of the energy-storage component: in accordance with a determination that charging of the energy-storage component has resumed and the energy-storage component has not reached the full charge level, continuing to include the visual indication that the electronic device is in the protective charging mode in the user interface; and in accordance with a determination that charging of the energy-storage component has reached the full charge level, ceasing to include the visual indication that the electronic device is in the protective charging mode in the user interface. 5. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the visual indication that the electronic device is in the protective charging mode includes an indication of a time when charging of the energy-storage component will resume. 6. The electronic device of claim 5 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for: resuming charging of the energy-storage component at the time included in the visual indication. 7. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the visual indication that the electronic device is in the protective charging mode includes an indication of a time when the energy-storage component is expected to reach the full charge level. 8. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein displaying the user interface includes displaying the user interface in response to detecting an input corresponding to a request to activate the electronic device. 9. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein: in accordance with a determination that charging of the energy-storage component has been stopped before reaching the full charge level, displaying the user interface further includes concurrently displaying an affordance that, when selected, disables the protective charging mode. 10. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined criteria includes a criterion that is based on usage patterns indicating the electronic device will remain in the charging configuration with respect to the external power source until a predetermined time. 11. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for: prior to displaying the user interface and after the electronic device has had protective charging mode capability enabled: detecting that the electronic device is being placed in a charging configuration with respect to the external power source; in response to detecting that the electronic device is being placed in a charging configuration with respect to the external power source: in accordance with a determination that the electronic device has not previously been in the charging configuration with respect to the external power source since having the protective charging mode capability enabled, displaying, via the display device, a second user interface that includes an indication that protective charging mode capability is enabled. 12. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for: while the electronic device is in the charging configuration with respect to the external power source, displaying a charging indicator indicating that the electronic device is in the charging configuration with respect to the external power source. 13. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device with a display device and an energy-storage component, the one or more programs including instructions for: while the electronic device is in a charging configuration with respect to an external power source, wherein the energy-storage component is capable of being charged with power supplied by the external power source when the electronic device is in the charging configuration: charging the energy-storage component of the electronic device with power supplied by the external power source; after charging the energy-storage component and determining a charge level of the energy-storage component, displaying a user interface via the display device, wherein: in accordance with a determination that the charge level of the energy-storage component is above a threshold charge level and that charging of the energy-storage component has been stopped before reaching a full charge level, displaying the user interface includes concurrently displaying: a visual indication that the electronic device is in a protective charging mode in which charging of the energy-storage component has been stopped at a current charge level that is below the full charge level of the energy-storage component, and a charge level indicator indicating the current charge level of the energy-storage component; and
