Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Methods, systems, and devices for deterrence techniques using a security and automation system are described. In one method, the system may receive a set of inputs from one or more sensors of the security and automation system. The system may determine one or more characteristics of a person proximate the security and automation system based at least in part on the received set of inputs. The system may predict an event based at least in part on a correlation between the one or more characteristics and the event. The system may perform one or more security and automation actions prior to the predicted event.

What is claimed is: 1. A system, comprising: an outdoor camera comprising a speaker, the outdoor camera configured to: detect a person within a predefined zone within a field of view of the outdoor camera; select, using an artificial intelligence algorithm, a deterrence sound from a plurality of sounds based on one or more characteristics of the detected person, the artificial intelligence algorithm trained by processing of previous deterrence sound outputs to learn which of the previous deterrence sound outputs resulted in successful deterrence according to characteristics of detected persons and adapting the artificial intelligence algorithm; and emit the selected deterrence sound from the speaker of the outdoor camera to deter the person in response to detecting the person. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the predefined zone is defined based on input from a user via a mobile application comprising computer program code executing on a mobile computing device, the mobile application in communication with the outdoor camera. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the outdoor camera is further configured to alert a user, from the mobile application on the mobile computing device, of the detected person, the emitted sound, or a combination thereof. 4. The system of claim 2 , wherein the outdoor camera is further configured to transmit an image, a video feed, or a combination thereof of the detected person to the mobile computing device, and wherein the mobile application is configured to display the image, the video feed, or a combination thereof of the detected person to a user on an electronic display screen of the mobile computing device. 5. The system of claim 2 , wherein the outdoor camera is further configured to: detect one or more of an animal and a vehicle; and alert a user, from the mobile application on the mobile computing device, of the detected one or more of an animal and a vehicle. 6. The system of claim 2 , wherein the mobile application is configured to control the outdoor camera. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the outdoor camera is further configured to: determine a duration that the person is present within the monitored zone; and determine that the duration satisfies a user defined threshold, wherein detecting the person is based at least in part on the duration that the person is present within the monitored zone satisfying the threshold. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the outdoor camera is further configured to display an image, a video feed, or a combination thereof of the detected person to a user on an electronic display screen of a home security control panel. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the outdoor camera is configured to perform artificial intelligence filtering of video data to identify one or more events, people including the person, scenarios, activities, or a combination thereof. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sound comprises one or more of whistling, barking, growling, shouting, a gunshot, and an announcement for the person to leave. 11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the outdoor camera is configured to receive one or more of a video input, an image input, an audio input, or a combination thereof. 12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the camera is configured to process video data by: analyzing a gait of the person, a physical behavior of the person, a clothing of the person, an object carried by the person, or any combination thereof; and determining, based at least in part on the analyzing, a likelihood that the person is to perpetrate an event. 13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the outdoor camera is further configured to: identify a setting for the outdoor camera; adjust the sound based at least in part on the identified setting; and emit, at a second time, the adjusted sound. 14. The system of claim 1 , wherein detecting the person comprises identifying the person based at least in part on stored information, or biometric information, or both, and wherein the emitted sound is selected at least in part based on the identified person. 15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the sound comprises a command and an indication that the person has been identified. 16. The system of claim 14 , wherein the outdoor camera is further configured to perform one or more security actions from a set of configured security actions based at least in part on the identified person. 17. A method, comprising: detecting a person within a predefined zone within a field of view of an outdoor camera; selecting, using an artificial intelligence algorithm, a deterrence sound from a plurality of sounds based on one or more characteristics of the detected person, the artificial intelligence algorithm trained by processing of previous deterrence sound outputs to learn which of the previous deterrence sound outputs resulted in successful deterrence according to characteristics of detected persons and adapting the artificial intelligence algorithm; and emitting the selected deterrence sound from a speaker of the outdoor camera to deter the person in response to detecting the person. 18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the predefined zone is defined based on input from a user via a mobile application comprising computer program code executing on a mobile computing device, the mobile application in communication with the outdoor camera. 19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the application is a mobile application, the method further comprising alerting a user, from the mobile application executing on the mobile computing device, of the detected person, the emitted sound, or a combination thereof. 20. An apparatus, comprising: an outdoor camera comprising a speaker, the outdoor camera configured to: detect a person within a predefined zone within a field of view of the outdoor camera; select, using an artificial intelligence algorithm, a deterrence sound from a plurality of sounds based on one or more characteristics of the detected person, the artificial intelligence algorithm trained by processing of previous deterrence sound outputs to learn which of the previous deterrence sound outputs resulted in successful deterrence according to characteristics of detected persons and adapting the artificial intelligence algorithm; and emit the selected deterrence sound from the speaker of the outdoor camera to deter the person in response to detecting the person.
