A multipoint lock assembly for a swinging door panel includes a mortise housing that is installed in a mortise along the non-hinged edge of the door panel. A latch operating mechanism and a lock operating mechanism are disposed in the mortise housing. Each of these mechanisms is designed to be operated with a standard rotary operator such as a handle or knob for the latch operating mechanism and a key and/or thumb turn for the lock operating mechanism. The latch operating mechanism is transitionable between left- and right-hand orientations and includes a deadlatch feature that prevents forced back-drive. Turning the key and or thumb turn of the lock operating mechanism extends a deadbolt and extends upper and lower shoot bolts from edges of the door. When extended, the shoot bolts also are secured against forced back-drive by unique mechanism configurations.

What is claimed: 1. A lock mechanism assembly configured to be disposed within a mortise pocket of a door, the lock mechanism assembly comprising: a main latch operating mechanism configured to extend a main latch from a lock edge of the door such that the main latch secures the door in a closed position thereof and to retract the main latch into the mortise pocket of the door such that the door is moveable from the closed position thereof; a deadbolt operating mechanism having a first drive bar configured to couple to and extend a shoot bolt from a top or a bottom edge of the door such that the shoot bolt secures the door in the closed position thereof; the first drive bar including a first dock defining a receptacle, the receptacle inwardly tapered towards the first drive bar such that the first dock is configured to guide a drive rod therethrough into the first drive bar of the deadbolt operating mechanism; and shoot bolt assembly comprising: a main body defining a passage having a central axis, the main body disposed in the top edge of the door panel such that the shoot bolt extends from the top edge of the door panel through the passage; and a guide barrel defining a sleeve having a sleeve axis, the guide barrel rotatably mounted in the passage of the main body with the sleeve axis is offset from the central axis such that rotation of the sleeve within the passage adjusts a position of the shoot bolt relative to the first face and the second face of the door panel. 2. The lock mechanism assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first dock defines a bore configured to receive and couple to a drive rod end of the drive rod. 3. The lock mechanism assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the first dock is attached to the first drive bar such that the first drive bar and the bore are coaxially aligned. 4. The lock mechanism assembly according to claim 2 , wherein bore of the first dock is disposed about the first drive bar, the first dock having a proximal end adjacent the bore and a distal end spaced apart from the bore, the first dock being tapered from the distal end to the proximal end such that the distal end has a greater dimension than the proximal end. 5. The lock mechanism assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the bore is configured to threadably receive the drive rod end to the first drive bar. 6. The lock mechanism assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first dock has a plurality of walls defining the receptacle, the receptacle having a first end adjacent to the first drive bar and a second end opposite the first end spaced from the first drive bar, the plurality of walls tapered inwardly such that the first end has a first dimension and the second end has a second dimension greater than the first dimension. 7. The lock mechanism assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first dock is formed as a four-sided pyramidal frustum. 8. The lock mechanism assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the first dock is attached to the first drive bar such that the first dock translates with the with drive bar as the drive bar extends the shoot bolt from the top or the bottom edge of the door. 9. A door panel assembly comprising: a door panel having a hinged edge, a lock edge, a top edge, a bottom edge, a first face, and a second face, the hinged edge configured to be secured by hinges to a door frame, the door panel including a mortise pocket defined between the first face and the second face adjacent the lock edge; a lock mechanism disposed within the mortise pocket, the lock mechanism comprising: an upper shoot bolt; an upper drive rod extending from the upper shoot bolt to an upper drive rod end; a main latch operating mechanism configured to extend a main latch from the lock edge of the door panel such that the main latch secures the door panel in a closed position thereof and to retract the main latch into the mortise pocket of the door panel such that the door panel is moveable from the closed position thereof; a deadbolt operating mechanism having an upper drive bar coupled to the upper drive rod end such that the upper drive bar is configured to extend the upper shoot bolt from the top edge of the door panel such that the upper shoot bolt secures the door panel in the closed position thereof; an upper dock configured to guide the upper drive rod end into the upper drive bar of the deadbolt operating mechanism; and an upper shoot bolt assembly, the upper shoot bolt assembly comprising: a main body defining a passage having a central axis, the main body disposed in the top edge of the door panel such that the upper shoot bolt extends from the top edge of the door panel through the passage; and a guide barrel defining a sleeve having a sleeve axis, the guide barrel rotatably mounted in the passage of the main body with the sleeve axis is offset from the central axis such that rotation of the sleeve within the passage adjusts a position of the upper shoot bolt relative to the first face and the second face of the door panel. 10. The door panel assembly according to claim 9 , wherein the upper dock has a plurality of walls defining a receptacle, the receptacle having a first end adjacent to the upper drive bar and a second end opposite the first end spaced apart from the upper drive bar, the plurality of walls tapered inwardly such that the first end has a first dimension and the second end has a second dimension greater than the first dimension. 11. The door panel assembly according to claim 9 , wherein the door panel defines a tunnel between the first face and the second face, the tunnel extending from the top edge of the door panel to the mortise pocket spaced apart from the lock edge of the door panel. 12. The door panel assembly according to claim 11 , wherein the upper dock is disposed within the mortise pocket and in communication with the tunnel to receive the upper drive rod end of the upper shoot bolt therethrough. 13. The door panel assembly according to claim 9 , further comprising a deadbolt coupled to the deadbolt operating mechanism such that the deadbolt operating mechanism is configured to the extend the deadbolt from the lock edge of the door panel such that the deadbolt secures the door panel in the closed position thereof. 14. The door panel assembly according to claim 13 , further comprising: a lower shoot bolt; a lower drive rod extending from the lower shoot bolt to a lower drive rod end; a lower drive bar of the deadbolt operating mechanism, the lower drive bar coupled to the lower drive rod end of the lower drive rod such that the lower drive bar is configured to extend the lower shoot bolt from the bottom edge of the door panel such that the lower shoot bolt secures the door panel in the closed position thereof; and a lower dock configured to guide the lower drive rod end of the lower drive rod into the lower drive bar of the deadbolt operating mechanism. 15. The door panel assembly according to claim 14 , wherein actuation of the deadbolt operating mechanism translates the upper shoot bolt and the lower shoot bolt, the upper shoot bolt translated a first distance such that the upper shoot bolt extends from the top edge of the door panel and the lower shoot bolt translated a second distance greater than the first distance such that the lower shoot bolt extends from the bottom edge of the door panel. 16. The door panel assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the deadbolt operating mechanism further comprises a linkage assembly configured to increase rotational force applied thereto such that the force required to simultaneously extend the deadbolt,
