A patient support device includes a sheet configured to be placed beneath the patient in use and a plurality of straps connected to the sheet and configured for use in moving, lifting, turning, and/or positioning the patient. The straps may include one or more retractable straps that each have a stretchable retraction strap connected thereto and configured for retracting the retractable strap. The straps may also include one or more central support straps connected to the sheet in an area positioned between the legs of the patient. The sheet may also include a head support for supporting the patient's head, which head support may also include one or more straps. The straps may be connected to a hoist, which is then used to lift the patient.

What is claimed is: 1. A device comprising: a sheet configured to support an upper body of a patient when the sheet and the patient are lifted, the sheet defined by a first plurality of peripheral edges, including a head edge; and a head support extending outwardly from the head edge and configured to support a head of the patient when the sheet is lifted, the head support comprising: a first portion extending away from the head edge and having a first elasticity, and a second portion extending away from the head edge adjacent the first portion and having a second elasticity, wherein the second elasticity is greater than the first elasticity. 2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first portion has a first coefficient of friction and the second portion has a second coefficient of friction, wherein the first coefficient of friction is lower than the second coefficient of friction. 3. The device of claim 1 , further comprising a third portion extending away from the head edge and having a third elasticity greater than the first elasticity, wherein the first portion is positioned between the second portion and the third portion. 4. The device of claim 3 , wherein the third elasticity is the same as the second elasticity. 5. The device of claim 1 , further comprising: a head support strap coupled to the head support; and a peripheral strap coupled to a peripheral edge of the first plurality of peripheral edges. 6. The device of claim 5 , wherein the head support is further configured to maintain the head of the patient in an inclined position when the sheet is lifted. 7. The device of claim 5 , wherein the peripheral strap is configured to couple to a hoist for lifting of the patient. 8. The device of claim 5 , wherein the head support strap is configured to couple to a hoist for lifting of the head of the patient. 9. The device of claim 5 , wherein the head support includes a flap configured to extend across a forehead of the head of the patient when the sheet is lifted. 10. The device of claim 9 , wherein the flap is releasably connected to the head support. 11. The device of claim 5 , wherein the head support is at least partially formed of a stretchable material with greater elasticity than materials of the sheet. 12. A method comprising: placing a patient above a top surface of a rectangular sheet, the rectangular sheet defined by a first plurality of peripheral edges, including a head edge; placing a head of the patient on a head support, wherein the head support extends outwardly from the head edge, the head support comprising: a first portion extending away from the head edge and having a first elasticity; and a second portion extending away from the head edge adjacent the first portion and having a second elasticity, wherein the second elasticity is greater than the first elasticity; and lifting the rectangular sheet, wherein the head support is configured to support the head of the patient as the rectangular sheet is lifted. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the head support is further configured to maintain the head of the patient in an inclined position as the rectangular sheet is lifted. 14. The method of claim 12 , further comprising coupling one or more straps to a hoist for lifting, wherein the one or more straps are coupled to the rectangular sheet. 15. The method of claim 12 , further comprising manipulating a flap into a hooded position such that the flap extends across a forehead of the head of the patient, wherein the flap is coupled to the head support. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the flap is releasably connected to the head support. 17. A system comprising: a patient support device comprising: a rectangular sheet configured to support an upper body of a patient when the rectangular sheet and the patient are lifted, the rectangular sheet defined by a first plurality of peripheral edges, including a head edge; a head support extending outwardly from the head edge and configured to support a head of the patient when the patient support device is lifted, the head support comprising: a first portion extending away from the head edge and having a first elasticity; and a second portion extending away from the head edge adjacent the first portion and having a second elasticity, wherein the second elasticity is greater than the first elasticity; and an absorbent body pad configured to be placed over the patient support device. 18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the rectangular sheet further comprises one or more straps coupled to the rectangular sheet, wherein the one or more straps are configured to couple to a hoist for lifting of the patient. 19. The system of claim 17 , wherein the head support includes a flap configured to extend across a forehead of the head of the patient when the rectangular sheet is lifted. 20. The system of claim 17 , further comprising one or more wedges configured to be placed under the patient support device.
