The invention claimed is: 1. A panel having a surface with a wood grain décor, the panel comprising a first surface portion that is formed by a basic layer comprising a first set of wood fibers having a first color and a first size, and a second surface portion that is formed by a second set of wood fibers having a second color and a second size, wherein the basic layer comprises a powder, the powder comprising the first set of wood fibers, wherein the basic layer is continuous, wherein the second set of wood fibers having the second color are applied on and bonded directly to the basic layer, wherein the second surface portion covers only a part of the first surface portion, wherein the first size of the first set of wood fibers is larger than the second size of the second set of wood fibers, and wherein the first color and the second color are brown, the second color being darker than the first color. 2. The panel according to claim 1 , wherein the powder comprises a thermosetting resin. 3. The panel according to claim 1 , wherein the basic layer is a paper sheet, the paper sheet comprising the first set of wood fibers. 4. The panel according to claim 1 , wherein the basic layer is a colored wood based core, the color wood based core comprising the first set of wood fibers. 5. The panel according to claim 1 , wherein the second surface portion comprises a pattern with a transverse length that exceeds a width along a longitudinal direction of the panel. 6. The panel according to claim 1 , wherein the panel is a floor panel. 7. The panel according to claim 6 , wherein an edge of the panel comprises a mechanical locking system comprising: a strip comprising a locking element configured to cooperate with a locking groove provided in an adjacent edge of another panel for horizontal locking of the adjacent edges, and a tongue configured to cooperate with a tongue groove provided in the adjacent edge for vertical locking of the adjacent edges. 8. The panel according to claim 1 , wherein the surface is embossed. 9. The panel according to claim 1 , wherein the second surface portion extends mainly in a transverse length direction of the panel. 10. The panel according to claim 1 , further comprising a wear resistant surface. 11. The panel according to claim 1 , wherein the first set of wood fibers having the first color and/or the second set of wood fibers having the second color are fiber based macro colorants.
