Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Wireless-enabled loudspeaker includes a capacitive touch user interface. The loudspeaker may comprise at least one electroacoustic transducer, a processor in communication with the at least one electroacoustic transducer, and an exterior surface comprising a capacitive touch user interface that allows a user to control operation of the loudspeaker. The exterior surface acts a dielectric for the capacitive touch user interface. The loudspeaker may comprise a wireless transceiver circuit for receiving and transmitting wireless communication signals via a wireless network. The wireless transceiver circuit may receive wirelessly audio content from streaming audio content servers that are connected to the Internet. The capacitive touch user interface comprises a plurality of capacitive sense electrodes.

What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: a remote server; a loudspeaker comprising: an enclosure comprising a smooth topmost surface, wherein the smooth topmost surface comprises a dielectric material; a wireless communication circuit inside the enclosure, wherein the wireless communication circuit is for wirelessly receiving an audio stream, wherein the wireless communication circuit is communicatively couplable to the remote server; one or more speakers inside the enclosure, wherein the one or more speakers are for playing the audio stream; and a capacitive touch user interface comprising at least one capacitive sense electrode, wherein the dielectric material of the smooth topmost surface serves as a dielectric layer by which a user of the loudspeaker can interact with the at least one capacitive sense electrode, wherein interacting with the at least one capacitive sense electrode controls an operation of the loudspeaker. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the loudspeaker can be configured via the remote server. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the remote server hosts a website to configure the loudspeaker. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the remote server hosts an applet to configure the loudspeaker. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein configuring the remote server comprises provisioning an audio stream source to the loudspeaker. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the loudspeaker further comprises a memory to store an address associated with the provisioned audio stream source. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the provisioned audio stream source is one of a plurality of audio stream sources, wherein the address is one of a plurality of addresses, wherein each of the plurality of addresses corresponds to one of the plurality of audio stream sources, and wherein the memory is further configured to store the plurality of addresses. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein configuring the loudspeaker comprises receiving, via the remote server, a user-defined sequence by which the loudspeaker is to cycle through the plurality of audio stream sources. 9. The system of claim 2 , wherein configuring the loudspeaker comprises setting up an account associated with the user of the loudspeaker. 10. The system of claim 2 , wherein the remote server is configured to store network credentials, and wherein configuring the loudspeaker comprises transmitting the network credentials from the remote server to the wireless communication circuit. 11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the loudspeaker further comprises a memory to store the network credentials. 12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the wireless communication circuit is configured to transmit an indication associated with the audio stream to the remote server. 13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the indication comprises an indication that the user of the loudspeaker approves of the audio stream. 14. The system of claim 12 , wherein the indication comprises an indication that the user of the loudspeaker is listening to the audio stream. 15. The system of claim 12 , wherein the indication is provided by the user of the loudspeaker via the capacitive touch user interface. 16. The system of claim 12 , wherein the remote server is configured to host a social media site configured to present the indication. 17. A loudspeaker comprising: an enclosure comprising a smooth topmost surface, wherein the smooth topmost surface comprises a dielectric material; a wireless communication circuit inside the enclosure, wherein the wireless communication circuit is for wirelessly receiving an audio stream; one or more speakers inside the enclosure, wherein the one or more speakers are for playing the audio stream; and a capacitive touch user interface comprising at least one capacitive sense electrode, wherein the dielectric material of the smooth topmost surface serves as a dielectric layer by which a user of the loudspeaker can interact with the at least one capacitive sense electrode, wherein interacting with the at least one capacitive sense electrode controls an operation of the loudspeaker. 18. The loudspeaker of claim 17 , further comprising a memory to store an address associated with a source of the audio stream. 19. The loudspeaker of claim 17 , wherein the wireless communication circuit is configured to receive a user-defined sequence by which the loudspeaker is to cycle through a plurality of audio stream sources. 20. The loudspeaker of claim 17 , wherein the wireless communication circuit is configured to transmit an indication associated with the audio stream. 21. The loudspeaker of claim 20 , wherein the indication is provided by the user of the loudspeaker via the capacitive touch user interface.
