What is claimed is: 1. An apparatus comprising: a sheet having a top surface, a bottom surface, a first lateral side, a second lateral side, a first longitudinal side contiguous with the first lateral side and the second lateral side, and a second longitudinal side contiguous with the first lateral side and the second lateral side; a first strap coupled to the sheet proximate the first lateral side; a second strap coupled to the sheet proximate the second lateral side, and longitudinally offset from the first strap; and an opening in the sheet, the sheet extending entirely around the opening, the opening disposed between the first lateral side and the second lateral side, and the opening centered between the first longitudinal side and the second longitudinal side and providing a passage between the top surface and the bottom surface of the sheet. 2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the opening is square-shaped or rectangle-shaped. 3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the opening is an access aperture to provide access to a patient through the sheet. 4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the access aperture is a slit. 5. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a second opening. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the opening is covered by a covering material. 7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the covering material is a flexible and elastic material. 8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the covering material is a polyurethane fabric. 9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the opening is configured to accommodate an anatomical feature of a patient. 10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the apparatus further comprises an access aperture proximate to the opening configured to accommodate the anatomical feature of the patient. 11. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the anatomical feature is a belly of a pregnant patient. 12. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the sheet comprises a first portion and a second portion, and wherein the opening is formed in the first portion. 13. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a first flap coupled to the sheet proximate the first lateral side and a second flap coupled to the sheet proximate the second lateral side, wherein the first strap is coupled to the first flap and the second strap is coupled to the second strap. 14. A method for turning and positioning a patient, the method comprising: placing a sheet under the patient, wherein the sheet comprises a top surface, a bottom surface, a first lateral side, a second lateral side, a first strap coupled proximate to the first lateral side, a second strap coupled proximate to the second lateral side, and an opening in the sheet providing a passage between the top surface and the bottom surface of the sheet; and providing a pulling force to the first strap and to the second strap, wherein the pulling force to the first strap and the pulling force to the second strap are in opposing directions across the patient; wherein the pulling force to the first strap is greater than the pulling force to the second strap whereby the pulling force to the first strap causes movement of the patient in the direction of the pulling force to move the patient from a first position to a second position, and the pulling force to the second strap is a resistance force. 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the opening is an access aperture to provide access to the patient through the sheet, and wherein the method further comprises inserting equipment through the access aperture. 16. The method of claim 14 , wherein placing the sheet under the patient comprises positioning the sheet such that the opening is aligned with an anatomical feature of the patient. 17. The method of claim 16 , wherein while moving the patient from the first position to the second position, the opening accommodates the anatomical feature of the patient. 18. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the opening is circular. 19. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the opening is oval-shaped. 20. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising an access aperture disposed between the opening and the first longitudinal side.
