Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system and method for operating a game of chance. A gaming system includes one or more game displays, a user interface, at least one processor running executable instructions related to a game of chance and memory in communication with said at least one processor. The game of chance including one or more random number generators in communication with the at least one processor, wherein a player may selectively delay the processor from utilizing results from the at least one RNG to change a future game outcome by interacting with the gaming machine and preventing game play for a delay period.

We claim: 1. A gaming system comprising: a gaming machine including a monetary input device configured to receive a physical item associated with a monetary value, a user interface, at least one processor running executable instructions related to a game of chance, a game display and memory in communication with said at least one processor; at least one random number generator in communication with the processor; wherein said at least one random number generator in communication with the processor generates random game outcomes; and wherein a player may selectively delay the processor from utilizing results from the at least one RNG to change a future game outcome by interacting with the gaming machine. 2. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the delay is measured as a period of time and/or number of RNG results. 3. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the gaming machine includes a button configured to allow the player to selectively delay the processor. 4. The gaming system of claim 3 wherein the button is located on a game display. 5. The gaming system of claim 3 wherein the button is located on a gaming machine button deck. 6. The gaming system of claim 3 wherein the button is a physical button. 7. The gaming system of claim 3 wherein the button is a virtual button located on a touch screen display. 8. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the player selectable delay utilizing results of the at least one RNG results in a delay of the time until a new game may be initiated by a player. 9. The gaming system of claim 8 wherein the delay of time until a new game may be initiated by a player is pre-established. 10. The gaming system of claim 8 wherein the delay of time until a new game may be initiated by a player is randomly determined. 11. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the processor is configured to notify a player that a delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG is occurring. 12. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the processor is configured to notify a player that a delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG has ended and play may resume. 13. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the processor is configured to notify a player that (i) a delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG is occurring and (ii) that the delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG has ended and play may resume. 14. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG changes future bonus event outcomes. 15. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG changes the outcome of future games of chance and future bonus event outcomes. 16. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the delay of said outcome results from the at least one random number generator changes future game of chance outcomes. 17. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the delay of said outcome results from at least one of said plurality of random number generators changes future bonus event outcomes. 18. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein the delay of said outcome results from at least one of said plurality of random number generators changes the outcome of future games of chance and future bonus event outcomes. 19. The gaming system of claim 14 wherein said bonus event is play of a bonus game. 20. The gaming system of claim 1 wherein said game of chance is a slot game, keno game, bingo game or video poker game. 21. A gaming system comprising: a gaming machine including a monetary input device configured to receive a physical item associated with a monetary value, a user interface, at least one processor running executable instructions related to a game of chance, a game display and memory in communication with said at least one processor; at least one random number generator in communication with the processor; wherein said at least one random number generator is in communication with the processor generates random game outcomes; and wherein a player may prevent game play by initiating a delay period to change a future game outcome by not utilizing RNG results during a period of game play prevention. 22. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the delay is measured as a period of time and/or number of RNG results. 23. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the gaming machine includes a button configured to allow the player to selectively delay the processor interacting with the gaming machine. 24. The gaming system of claim 23 wherein the button is located on a game display. 25. The gaming system of claim 23 wherein the button is located on a gaming machine button deck. 26. The gaming system of claim 23 wherein the button is a physical button. 27. The gaming system of claim 23 wherein the button is a virtual button located on a touch screen display. 28. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the player selectable delay utilizing results of the at least one RNG results in a delay in time until a new game may be initiated by a player. 29. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the delay period until a new game may be initiated by a player is pre-established. 30. The gaming system of claim 22 wherein the delay period until a new game may be initiated by a player is randomly determined. 31. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the processor is configured to notify a player that a delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG is occurring. 32. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the processor is configured to notify a player that a delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG has ended and play may resume. 33. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the processor is configured to notify a player (i) that a delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG is occurring and (ii) that a delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG has ended and play may resume. 34. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG changes future bonus event outcomes. 35. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the delay utilizing results from the at least one RNG changes the outcome of future games of chance and future bonus event outcomes. 36. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the delay of said outcome results from the at least one random number generator changes future game of chance outcomes. 37. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the delay of said outcome results from at least one of said plurality of random number generators changes future bonus event outcomes. 38. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein the delay of said outcome results from at least one of said plurality of random number generators changes the outcome of future games of chance and future bonus event outcomes. 39. The gaming system of claim 35 wherein said bonus event is play of a bonus game. 40. The gaming system of claim 21 wherein said game of chance is a slot game, keno game, bingo game or video poker game. 41. A gaming system comprising: a gaming machine including a monetary input device configured to receive a physical item associated with a monetary value, a user interface, at least one processor
