Official abstract text for this publication.
To provide a technology of more accurately detecting spoofing in face authentication, without increasing a scale of a device configuration and a burden on a user. A spoofing detection device includes a facial image sequence acquisition unit, a line-of-sight change detection unit, a presentation information display unit, and a spoofing determination unit. The facial image sequence acquisition unit acquires a facial image sequence indicating the face of a user. The line-of-sight change detection unit detects information about a temporal change in the line-of-sight from the facial image sequence. The presentation information display unit displays presentation information presented to the user as part of an authentication process. The spoofing determination unit determines the likelihood of the face indicated by the facial image sequence being spoofing on the basis of the information about the temporal change in the line-of-sight with respect to the presentation information.

The invention claimed is: 1. A face detection device comprising: at least one memory storing instructions; and at least one processor configured to execute the instructions to perform: acquiring a facial image indicating a face of a user; detecting, from the facial image, a direction of line-of-sight of the user; displaying a sentence on a display device, the sentence explaining a part of face authentication processing or instructing the user through the face authentication processing; changing a position of the sentence on a screen of the display device, as the sentence changes; and determining whether the face of the user indicated by the facial image is a living face, based on a relationship between a change in the direction of the line-of-sight of the user, the change in the direction of the line-of-sight is caused by changing the position of the sentence, and the content of the sentence. 2. The face detection device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions to further perform: switching of the sentence; and determining a likelihood of spoofing based on relevance of information about a temporal line-of-sight change to switching of the sentence. 3. The face detection device according to claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions to perform: determining the likelihood of the spoofing based on relevance of the information about the temporal line-of-sight change to a timing of switching of the sentence. 4. The face detection device according to claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions to perform: determining the likelihood of the spoofing based on relevance of the information about the temporal line-of-sight change to a change in a display position of the sentence resulting from switching of the sentence. 5. The face detection device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions to perform: displaying only the sentence on the display device and changing the position of the sentence on the screen of the display device. 6. An authentication method performed by a computer and comprising: acquiring a facial image indicating a face of a user; detecting, from the facial image, a direction of line-of-sight of the user; displaying a sentence on a display device, the sentence explaining a part of face authentication processing or instructing the user through the face authentication processing; changing a position of the sentence on a screen of the display device, as the sentence changes; and determining whether the face of the user indicated by the facial image is a living face, based on a relationship between a change in the direction of the line-of-sight of the user, the change in the direction of the line-of-sight is caused by changing the position of the sentence, and the content of the sentence. 7. The authentication method according to claim 6 , wherein the authentication method further comprises: switching of the sentence; and determining a likelihood of spoofing based on relevance of information about a temporal line-of-sight change to switching of the sentence. 8. The authentication method according to claim 7 , wherein the authentication method comprises: determining the likelihood of the spoofing based on relevance of the information about the temporal line-of-sight change to a timing of switching of the sentence. 9. The authentication method according to claim 7 , wherein the authentication method comprises: determining the likelihood of the spoofing based on relevance of the information about the temporal line-of-sight change to a change in a display position of the sentence resulting from switching of the sentence. 10. A non-transitory program recording medium storing a program executable by a computer to perform processing comprising: acquiring a facial image indicating a face of a user; detecting, from the facial image, a direction of line-of-sight of the user; displaying a sentence on a display device, the sentence explaining a part of face authentication processing or instructing the user through the face authentication processing; changing a position of the sentence on a screen of the display device, as the sentence changes; and determining whether the face of the user indicated by the facial image is a living face, based on a relationship between a change in the direction of the line-of-sight of the user, the change in the direction of the line-of-sight is caused by changing the position of the sentence, and the content of the sentence. 11. The non-transitory program recording medium according to claim 10 , wherein the processing further comprises: switching of the sentence; and determining a likelihood of spoofing based on relevance of information about a temporal line-of-sight change to switching of the sentence. 12. The non-transitory program recording medium according to claim 11 , wherein the processing comprises: determining the likelihood of the spoofing based on relevance of the information about the temporal line-of-sight change to a timing of switching of the sentence. 13. The non-transitory program recording medium according to claim 11 , wherein the processing comprises: determining the likelihood of the spoofing based on relevance of the information about the temporal line-of-sight change to a change in a display position of the sentence resulting from switching of the sentence.
