A collapsible prosthetic heart valve includes a collapsible and expandable stent and a collapsible and expandable valve assembly. The stent has a proximal end and a distal end. A plurality of commissure points is disposed on the stent. The valve assembly is disposed within the stent and includes a plurality of leaflets. Each leaflet has a free edge. An end portion of the free edge of each leaflet is folded and sutured to a corresponding one of the plurality of the commissure points.

The invention claimed is: 1. A prosthetic heart valve, comprising: a collapsible and expandable stent comprising a plurality of struts and a plurality of cells defined by the plurality of struts; a plurality of commissure points disposed on the stent, the plurality of commissure points comprising at least a first commissure point, each of the plurality of commissure points including a body having an inner surface, an outer surface, a first lateral side and a second lateral side, each of the commissure points interconnecting first and second adjacent cells in an annular row of the stent such that the first lateral side faces the first cell and the second lateral side faces the second cell; and a collapsible and expandable valve assembly disposed within the stent, the valve assembly including a plurality of leaflets including at least a first leaflet having an end portion and a remaining portion, and a second leaflet having an end portion and a remaining portion, the end portion of the first leaflet being adjacent the end portion of the second leaflet; the end portion of the first leaflet including a first folded portion having a first leg, a second leg extending parallel to the first leg, a fold between the first leg and the second leg, a free edge, and a first web of material interposed between the first leg and the second leg, the first folded portion being attached to the first commissure point, the free edge of the first folded portion being in contact with the remaining portion of the first leaflet; and the end portion of the second leaflet including a second folded portion having a first leg, a second leg extending parallel to the first leg, a fold between the first leg and the second leg, a free edge, and a second web of material interposed between the first leg and the second leg, the second folded portion being attached to the first commissure point, the free edge of the second folded portion end portion being in contact with the remaining portion of the second leaflet, wherein the first leg and the second leg of the first folded portion and the first leg and the second leg of the second folded portion extend parallel to the inner surface of the first commissure point. 2. The prosthetic heart valve as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the valve assembly further includes a cuff interposed between the first commissure point and the first and second folded portions. 3. The prosthetic heart valve as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the end portion of the first leaflet is attached to the first commissure point via at least one first suture. 4. The prosthetic heart valve as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the free edge of the first folded portion extends beyond the at least one first suture and is connected to the remaining portion of the first leaflet. 5. The prosthetic heart valve as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the valve assembly further includes a cuff interposed between the first commissure point and the first and second folded portions, and the at least one first suture attaches the first folded portion, the first web of material and the cuff to the first commissure point. 6. The prosthetic heart valve as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the end portion of the second leaflet is attached to the first commissure point via at least one second suture. 7. The prosthetic heart valve as claimed in claim 6 , wherein a free edge of the second folded portion extends beyond the at least one second suture and is connected to the remaining portion of the second leaflet. 8. The prosthetic heart valve as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the valve assembly further includes a cuff interposed between the first commissure point and the first and second folded portions, and the at least one second suture attaches the second folded portion, the second web of material and the cuff to the first commissure point.
