Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A control device for an electronic aerosol provision system is configured to receive a replaceable component to form an electronic aerosol provision system. The control device is further configured to receive an identifier from a replaceable component received by the control device; and to modify one or more characteristics (such as resistance to draw, RTD) of an airflow path through the electronic aerosol provision system dependent upon the received identifier.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A control device for an electronic aerosol provision system, the control device being configured to receive a replaceable component to form an electronic aerosol provision system, the control device being configured to: receive an identifier from a replaceable component received by the control device, the replaceable component comprising an aerosol precursor material; and provide output to a user based on the received identifier, wherein the output is provided on a display of the electronic aerosol provision system, and wherein the output provides information about the aerosol precursor material in the replaceable component from which the identifier was received. 2. The control device of claim 1 , wherein the output is dependent upon an authorisation of the received identifier. 3. The control device of claim 1 , configured to aerosolise the aerosol precursor material located in the replaceable component. 4. The control device of claim 1 , wherein the control device further includes a communication interface for interacting with a remote server either directly or indirectly via a smartphone. 5. An electronic aerosol provision system including the control device of claim 1 . 6. A method of operating a control device for an electronic aerosol provision system, the method comprising: receiving a replaceable component to form an electronic aerosol provision system, the replaceable component comprising an aerosol precursor material; receiving an identifier from the replaceable component; and in response to the received identifier, providing output to a user based on the received identifier using a display of the electronic aerosol provision system, wherein the output provides information about the aerosol precursor material in the replaceable component from which the identifier was received. 7. A control device for an electronic aerosol provision system, the control device being configured to receive a replaceable component to form an electronic aerosol provision system, the control device being configured to: receive an identifier from the replaceable component received by the control device, the replaceable component comprising an aerosol precursor material; and provide output to a user based on the received identifier, wherein the output is provided on a display of an external system, and wherein the output provides information about the aerosol precursor material in the replaceable component from which the identifier was received. 8. A method of operating of operating a control device for an electronic aerosol provision system, the method comprising: receiving a replaceable component to form an electronic aerosol provision system, the replaceable component comprising an aerosol precursor material; receiving an identifier from the replaceable component; and in response to the received identifier: providing output to a user based on the received identifier using a display of an external system, wherein the output provides information about the aerosol precursor material in the replaceable component from which the identifier was received.
