Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A portable lighting device having multiple mounting features providing multiple mounting configurations allowing for hands-free lighting in various situations and locations. The portable lighting device comprises a housing with (i) a front bezel configured to receive a primary optic; (ii) a central support having a securement means and a peripheral segment configured to receive an extent of a cap of a bottle; and, (iii) a rear body having a multi-positional assembly, a coupling means residing within the multi-positional assembly, and a mounting means. The lighting device also includes an illumination assembly having a light source configured to emit light beyond the housing to illuminate a surrounding area, and a power source disposed within the housing and operably coupled to the illumination assembly. The multi-positional assembly is movable between a retracted position and a deployed position that improve the utility of the portable lighting device.

The invention claimed is: 1. A portable lighting device allowing for hands-free lighting in various situations and locations, the portable lighting device comprising: an illumination assembly having a light source configured to emit light; a housing including: (i) a central support configured to rest against a support surface; (ii) a rear body with an extent positioned within the central support and having a multi-positional assembly configured to rest against the support surface at the same time the central support rests against the support surface, and wherein multi-positional assembly is adapted to direct the emitted light at a specific angle relative to the support surface; and (iii) a front body with an extent positioned within the central support; a rechargeable power source disposed within the housing and operably coupled to the illumination assembly. 2. The portable lighting device of claim 1 , further comprising a magnet with a rearmost surface, and wherein said multi-positional assembly has an outer extent that is positioned either rearward of or flush with the rearmost surface of the magnet. 3. The portable lighting device of claim 1 , further comprising a mounting means formed within an extent of the central support. 4. The portable lighting device of claim 1 , wherein the illumination assembly includes a chip on board (COB) LED and a lens that extends over the COB LED. 5. The portable lighting device of claim 1 , wherein the central support includes a securement means that is positioned above an uppermost extent of the rear body, wherein the portable lighting device can be selectively placed in a mounting configuration where the securement means is coupled to an object. 6. The portable lighting device of claim 1 , wherein the central support includes a peripheral segment configured to receive an extent of a cap of a bottle. 7. A portable lighting device comprising: a housing including: (i) a central support having a central support periphery; (ii) a rear body having a rear body periphery that is smaller than the central support periphery, and wherein said rear body includes: (a) a rear wall, (b) a deployable kickstand, wherein said deployable kickstand is in a retracted position when an extent of the deployable kickstand is positioned adjacent to the rear wall, and (c) a magnet positioned within the deployable kickstand when said deployable kickstand is in the retracted position. 8. The portable lighting device of claim 7 , wherein the deployable kickstand has at least one deformable projection configured to secure an extent of the deployable kickstand between the retracted position and a deployed position; and, wherein in the deployed position, the kickstand extends at an angle from the rear body to support the lighting device in a desired support angle α relative to a support surface. 9. The portable lighting device of claim 7 , further comprising a rechargeable battery coupled to a USB charging port, and wherein said USB charging port is positioned below a peripheral segment of the central support that has an irregular opening. 10. The portable lighting device of claim 7 , wherein the central support includes a peripheral segment that is: (i) configured to receive an extent of a cap of a bottle, and (ii) positioned above an uppermost extent of the rear body. 11. The portable lighting device of claim 7 , wherein the power source assembly includes a switch coupled to the illumination assembly, wherein an extent of the switch is positioned between: (i) the central support, and (ii) an extent of the deployable kickstand in the retracted position. 12. A portable lighting device comprising: a housing having: a rear body having a magnet residing within an extent of the rear body; a front body having a frontal width; a central support positioned between an extent of the rear body and the front body, the central support having a central width that is greater than the frontal width; an illumination assembly having: (a) a light source configured to emit light beyond the housing to illuminate a surrounding area, and (b) a switch positioned between the central support, and an extent of the magnet; and a power source assembly: (a) disposed within the housing and operably coupled to the illumination assembly, and (b) including a rechargeable battery coupled to a USB charging port. 13. The portable lighting device of claim 12 , further comprising a deployable kickstand having at least one deformable projection configured to secure an extent of the deployable kickstand between a retracted position and a deployed position; and, wherein in the deployed position, the deployable kickstand extends at an angle from the rear body to support the lighting device in a desired support angle α relative to a support surface. 14. The portable lighting device of claim 12 , wherein the illumination assembly includes a chip on board (COB) LED and a lens that overlies an entirety of the COB LED. 15. The portable lighting device of claim 1 , further comprising a switch coupled to the illumination assembly and positioned between an extent of the central support, and an extent of the multi-positional assembly. 16. The portable lighting device of claim 1 , wherein the central support has a central support periphery and the rear body has a rear body periphery that is smaller than the central support periphery. 17. The portable lighting device of claim 1 , wherein an extent of the light source has an outer periphery that is either square or octagonal. 18. The portable lighting device of claim 7 , further comprising an illumination assembly with a light source having an outer periphery that is either circular or octagonal. 19. The portable lighting device of claim 7 , further comprising a mounting means formed within an extent of the central support. 20. The portable lighting device of claim 7 , further comprising an illumination assembly configured to output at least 500 lumens of light. 21. The portable lighting device of claim 12 , wherein the portable lighting device meets or exceeds an IP67 waterproof standard. 22. The portable lighting device of claim 12 , wherein the light source has an outer periphery that is either square or octagonal.
