Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An identification system uses a local cache for performing identifications. An identity system device may store identity information and identification information. An electronic device stores a cache of a portion of the identity information and a part of the identification information. The electronic device receives user input, determines an identity by comparing the user input to the cached identification information (such as by comparing a received digital representation of a biometric with cached biometric identification information), and performs an action using information in the cached identity information that is associated with the identity. The electronic device may update the identity information stored by the identity system device based on the action.

What is claimed is: 1. A system, comprising: at least one non-transitory storage medium that stores instructions; and at least one processor that executes the instructions to: receive information directly from a user, the information associated with an account; in response to receiving the information directly from the user, load a local cache with data for the user from a central database; receive a digital representation of a biometric; determine an identity by comparing the digital representation of the biometric to the local cache; and initiate processing of a payment using identity information associated with the identity. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the information comprises a phone number. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the digital representation of the biometric comprises at least a portion of a hand. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is associated with a point of sale device. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor receives the digital representation of the biometric from a biometric reader device. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor uses the identity information to determine whether a verified age meets a threshold. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the payment is associated with a transaction processed by the at least one processor. 8. The system of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving an additional digital representation of an additional biometric; and upon failure of performing an identification by comparing the additional representation of the additional biometric to the local cache, compare the additional representation of the additional biometric to a database. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the database is the central database. 10. A method, comprising: in response to receiving information directly from a user, loading a local cache with data for the user from a database; receiving a digital representation of a biometric; accessing identity information by comparing the digital representation of the biometric to the local cache; and performing an action using the identity information. 11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the action comprises initiating processing of a payment. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the identity information includes financial information. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the financial information includes at least one of a credit card number, a bank account number, a rewards account number, airline miles, or an identifier for a credit account created using information stored in the local cache. 14. The method of claim 10 , further comprising using a point of sale device to process a transaction associated with the payment. 15. The method of claim 10 , wherein the action comprises providing a verified age associated with the identity information. 16. The method of claim 10 , further comprising removing the data from the local cache. 17. The method of claim 10 , further comprising transmitting a notification regarding the action. 18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the transmitting the notification regarding the action comprises transmitting the notification to the database. 19. The method of claim 10 , wherein the receiving the digital representation of the biometric comprises receiving the digital representation of the biometric from a scanner. 20. The method of claim 10 , further comprising accessing the database via a cloud network.
