Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Various embodiments are generally directed to enhancing a card activation experience for an authorized card user when activating a new card by at least displaying various types of information related to the new card in augmented reality (AR) and allowing the user to perform the activation itself or experience other aspects of the activation process in AR. Information pertaining the successful activation of the card may also be provided to the user in AR.

What is claimed is: 1. A computer-implemented method, comprising: receiving, by a processor, a link to launch or install and launch an application comprising an augmented reality interface; launching, by the processor, the application comprising the augmented reality interface; authenticating, by the processor, a contactless card based on encrypted data received from the contactless card; displaying, by the processor, a representation of the contactless card and one or more instructions to activate the contactless card; receiving, by the processor, an input to activate the contactless card; and activating, by the processor, the contactless card based on the input and authentication of the encrypted data. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the input includes receiving, in the augmented reality interface, a graphical input associated with one or more operations of the contactless card. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the augmented reality interface includes data extracted from the contactless card. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the augmented reality interface is launched on a mobile device upon detecting the contactless card being present within a predetermined distance from the one mobile device. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the augmented reality interface is launched on a mobile device upon tapping the contactless card on the mobile device. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the augmented reality interface is configured to interactively display data extracted from the contactless card by configuring the data extracted from the contactless card to be selectable. 7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising extracting data from the contactless card, wherein the data includes at least one of the following: a credit limit associated with an account linked to the contactless card, one or more annual percentage rates associated with the account linked to the contactless card, one or more payment due dates associated with the account linked to the contactless card, one or more messages associated with the account linked to the contactless card, and any combination thereof. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the data extracted from the contactless card includes at least one of the following: a text data, a graphical data, and any combination thereof. 9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising executing, based on the authenticating, one or more operations of the contactless card. 10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the one or more operations include at least one of the following: adding or deleting one or more authorized users to an account linked to the contactless card, setting up one or more autopay options for payment of the account linked to the contactless card, enabling or disabling a card chip associated with the contactless card, and any combination thereof. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the authenticating includes authenticating the contactless card using the augmented reality interface by receiving a cryptogram generated by the contactless card. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the authenticating includes transmitting the cryptogram to a server communicatively coupled to a mobile device; and decrypting, by the server, the cryptogram; and comparing, by the server, the decrypted cryptogram to one or more stored data associated with the contactless card to generate at least one of a verification of the contactless card or a failure to verify the contactless card; and receiving, from the server, by the processor, the at least one of a verification of the contactless card or a failure to verify the contactless card. 13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising determining whether to activate the contactless card based on the received at least one of a verification of the contactless card or a failure to verify the contactless card. 14. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is communicatively coupled to a camera, wherein data extracted from the contactless card is extracted from one or more images of the contactless card generated by the camera and transmitted to the processor. 15. A system, comprising: at least one processor; and at least one non-transitory storage media storing instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to: launch an application comprising an augmented reality interface, wherein the augmented reality interface includes data extracted from a contactless card; authenticate the contactless card based on encrypted data received from the contactless card; display a representation of the contactless card and one or more instructions to activate the contactless card; and activate the contactless card in response to an input to activate the contactless card and authentication of the encrypted data. 16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the input includes a graphical input associated with one or more operations of the contactless card. 17. The system of claim 15 , wherein the augmented reality interface is launched on a mobile device upon detecting the contactless card being present within a predetermined distance from the one mobile device. 18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the augmented reality interface is launched on a mobile device upon tapping the contactless card on the mobile device. 19. The system of claim 15 , wherein the augmented reality interface is configured to interactively display data extracted from the contactless card by configuring the data extracted from the contactless card to be selectable. 20. A computer program product comprising a non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by at least one programmable processor, cause the at least one programmable processor to: launch an application comprising an augmented reality interface, wherein the augmented reality interface includes data extracted from a contactless card; authenticate the contactless card based on encrypted data received from the contactless card, wherein authenticating includes authenticating the contactless card using the augmented reality interface by receiving a cryptogram generated by the contactless card; display a representation of the contactless card and one or more instructions to activate the contactless card; activate the contactless card in response to an input to activate the contactless card and authentication of the encrypted data; and execute, based on authenticating, one or more operations of the contactless card.
