Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A method for managing a data protection module (DPM) includes: obtaining an alert generated by the DPM within a predetermined period of time; obtaining metadata associated with the DPM; analyzing the metadata to extract relevant data; analyzing the alert to extract second relevant data; making, based on the second relevant data, a determination that a tolerance level associated with the alert has been exceeded; sending, based on the determination, the alert, the relevant data, and the second relevant data to a vendor environment (VE) analyzer; in response to sending the alert, the relevant data, and the second relevant data, receiving a service request (SR) generated by the VE analyzer for the DPM; and providing the SR to the client to notify a user of the client about the SR using a graphical user interface (GUI) of the client.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for managing a data protection module, the method comprising: obtaining an alert generated by the data protection module within a predetermined period of time, wherein the alert is generated for an asset discovery operation; obtaining metadata associated with the data protection module, wherein the metadata comprises at least product configuration information; analyzing the metadata to extract relevant data; analyzing the alert to extract second relevant data; making, based on the second relevant data, a determination that a tolerance level associated with the alert has been exceeded; sending, based on the determination, the alert, the relevant data, and the second relevant data to a vendor environment (VE) analyzer; in response to sending the alert, the relevant data, and the second relevant data, receiving a service request (SR) generated by the VE analyzer for the data protection module, wherein the data protection module orchestrates a data protection operation for the client; and providing the SR to the client to notify a user of the client about the SR using a graphical user interface (GUI) of the client. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the alert is a critical alert, wherein the critical alert indicates that the data protection operation is failed. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the alert is a warning alert, wherein the warning alert indicates that the data protection operation is completed partially. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the relevant data specifies at least an application log associated with the data protection operation, wherein the data protection operation is initiated within the predetermined period of time, wherein the data protection operation is initiated in accordance with a centralized protection policy, and wherein the centralized protection policy is configured to protect a virtual machine. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second relevant data specifies at least one selected from a group consisting of a type of the alert, a category of the alert, a message associated with the alert, an identity of the client, the tolerance level associated with the alert, and a number of alert occurrences within the predetermined period of time. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the product configuration information specifies at least one selected from a group consisting of a type of each of a plurality of assets, a number of each type of the plurality of assets, a size of each of the plurality of assets, a type of an operating system, and a number of each type of a plurality of data protection policies, wherein the plurality of data protection policies comprises at least a product feature, wherein the product feature is a centralized protection policy. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the SR specifies that the data protection module is unhealthy. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the SR further specifies that the data protection module will be replaced with a second data protection module in order to manage the health of the data protection module. 9. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer-readable program code, which when executed by a computer processor enables the computer processor to perform a method for managing a data protection module, the method comprising: obtaining an alert generated by the data protection module within a predetermined period of time, wherein the alert is generated for an asset discovery operation; obtaining metadata associated with the data protection module, wherein the metadata comprises at least product configuration information; analyzing the metadata to extract relevant data; analyzing the alert to extract second relevant data; making, based on the second relevant data, a determination that a tolerance level associated with the alert has been exceeded; sending, based on the determination, the alert, the relevant data, and the second relevant data to a vendor environment (VE) analyzer; in response to sending the alert, the relevant data, and the second relevant data, receiving a service request (SR) generated by the VE analyzer for the data protection module, wherein the data protection module orchestrates a data protection operation for the client; and providing the SR to the client to notify a user of the client about the SR using a graphical user interface (GUI) of the client. 10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the alert is a critical alert, wherein the critical alert indicates that the data protection operation is failed. 11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the alert is a warning alert, wherein the warning alert indicates that the data protection operation is completed partially. 12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the relevant data specifies at least an application log associated with the data protection operation, wherein the data protection operation is initiated within the predetermined period of time, wherein the data protection operation is initiated in accordance with a centralized protection policy, and wherein the centralized protection policy is configured to protect a virtual machine. 13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the second relevant data specifies at least one selected from a group consisting of a type of the alert, a category of the alert, a message associated with the alert, an identity of the client, the tolerance level associated with the alert, and a number of alert occurrences within the predetermined period of time. 14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the product configuration information specifies at least one selected from a group consisting of a type of each of a plurality of assets, a number of each type of the plurality of assets, a size of each of the plurality of assets, a type of an operating system, and a number of each type of a plurality of data protection policies, wherein the plurality of data protection policies comprises at least a product feature, wherein the product feature is a centralized protection policy. 15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the SR specifies that the data protection module is unhealthy. 16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the SR further specifies that the data protection module will be replaced with a second data protection module in order to manage the health of the data protection module. 17. A system for managing a data protection module, the system comprising: a processor comprising circuitry; memory comprising instructions, which when executed perform a method, the method comprising: obtaining an alert generated by the data protection module within a predetermined period of time, wherein the alert is generated for an asset discovery operation; obtaining metadata associated with the data protection module, wherein the metadata comprises at least product configuration information; analyzing the metadata to extract relevant data; analyzing the alert to extract second relevant data; making, based on the second relevant data, a determination that a tolerance level associated with the alert has been exceeded; sending, based on the determination, the alert, the relevant data, and the second relevant data to a vendor environment (VE) analyzer; in response to sending the alert, the relevant data, and the second relevant data, receiving a service request (SR) generated by the VE analyzer for the data protection module, wherein the data protection modu
