Systems and methods for transferring funds from a financial institution account to a cashless wagering account and then to an electronic gaming machine without utilizing any physical forms of currency.
Opening claim text (preview).
The invention is claimed as follows: 1. A device comprising: a processor; and a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: capture: data associated with a financial institution account, user authentication data associated with the financial institution account, and data associated with an amount of funds, and responsive to a receipt of data associated with a financial institution confirmation of an availability of the amount of funds in the financial institution account, communicate, via an interface, the data associated with the amount of funds to a cashless wagering system associated with a cashless wagering account, wherein the cashless wagering account is distinct from any player tracking account associated with any player loyalty system, and independent of any issuance of any physical item associated with the amount of funds, in association with a mobile device application being executed by a mobile device operating independent of the device and following a modification of a balance of the cashless wagering account based on the amount of funds, the amount of funds are available to be transferred, independent of any electronic gaming machine operating independent of the device, to a component of a gaming table operating independent of the device. 2. The device of claim 1 , further comprising a housing and a card reader supported by the housing, wherein the data associated with the financial institution account is captured in association with a financial institution card. 3. The device of claim 2 , wherein the financial institution card comprises at least one of a magnetic stripe and an integrated circuit. 4. The device of claim 2 , wherein the financial institution card comprises a debit card. 5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the financial institution account comprises a credit card account. 6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the user authentication data associated with the financial institution account is captured in association with a financial institution personal identification number. 7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the data associated with the financial institution confirmation of the availability of the amount of funds in the financial institution account is received via a financial institution network. 8. The device of claim 1 , wherein when executed by the processor, the instructions cause the processor to wirelessly receive data associated with the cashless wagering account from the mobile device. 9. A device comprising: a card reader; an input device; a processor; and a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: capture, via the card reader, data associated with a financial institution account from a financial institution card, receive, via the input device, a first input of a personal identification number associated with the financial institution account, receive, via the input device, a second input of an amount of funds to be transferred from the financial institution account, and responsive to a communication of data associated with at least the personal identification number associated with the financial institution account and the amount of funds to be transferred from the financial institution account to a processor associated with a financial institution that maintains the financial institution account and responsive to a confirmation from the processor associated with the financial institution of an availability of the amount of funds in the financial institution account, communicate, via an interface, the amount of funds to a cashless wagering system maintaining a cashless wagering account, wherein the cashless wagering account is distinct from any player tracking account associated with any player loyalty system, and independent of any issuance of any physical item associated with the amount of funds, and in association with a mobile device application being executed by a mobile device operating independent of the device, the amount of funds are available to be transferred, independent of any electronic gaming machine operating independent of the device, from the cashless wagering account to a component of a gaming table operating independent of the device. 10. The device of claim 9 , wherein the financial institution card comprises at least one of a magnetic stripe and an integrated circuit. 11. The device of claim 9 , wherein the financial institution card comprises a debit card. 12. The device of claim 9 , wherein the financial institution account comprises a credit card account. 13. A method of operating a device, the method comprising: capturing: data associated with a financial institution account, user authentication data associated with the financial institution account, and data associated with an amount of funds, and responsive to a receipt of data associated with a financial institution confirmation of an availability of the amount of funds in the financial institution account, communicating, via an interface, the data associated with the amount of funds to a cashless wagering system associated with a cashless wagering account, wherein the device is distinct from any electronic gaming machine, the device is distinct from any component of any gaming table, the device is distinct from any processor of any mobile device, the cashless wagering account is distinct from any player tracking account associated with any player loyalty system, and independent of any issuance of any physical item associated with the amount of funds and following a modification of a balance of the cashless wagering account based on the amount of funds, the amount of funds are available to be transferred, independent of any electronic gaming machine, to a component of a gaming table. 14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the data associated with the financial institution account is captured in association with a financial institution card read by a card reader supported by a housing of the device. 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the financial institution card comprises at least one of a magnetic stripe and an integrated circuit. 16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the financial institution card comprises a debit card. 17. The method of claim 13 , wherein the financial institution account comprises a credit card account. 18. The method of claim 13 , wherein the user authentication data associated with the financial institution account is captured in association with a financial institution personal identification number. 19. The method of claim 13 , wherein the data associated with the financial institution confirmation of the availability of the amount of funds in the financial institution account is received via a financial institution network. 20. The method of claim 13 , further comprising wirelessly receiving data associated with the cashless wagering account from a mobile device.
