An illustrative stent may comprise an elongated tubular member having a first end and a second end and an intermediate region disposed therebetween. The elongated tubular member configured to move between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration. The elongated tubular member may comprise at least one twisted filament, such as a knitted filament having a plurality of twisted knit stitches with intermediate rung portions extending between adjacent twisted knit stitches, or a plurality of helical filaments twisted with a plurality of longitudinal filaments.

What is claimed is: 1. A stent, the stent comprising: an elongated tubular member comprising a knitted filament having a plurality of twisted knit stitches with intermediate rung portions extending between adjacent twisted knit stitches, the plurality of twisted knit stitches each include a loop portion and an overlapping base region, the elongated tubular member configured to move between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration; wherein in the collapsed configuration the plurality of twisted knit stitches have a first profile and in the expanded configuration the plurality of twisted knit stitches have a second profile different from the first profile; and wherein the elongated tubular member comprises a plurality of rows, wherein some of the plurality of rows have a first number of twisted knit stitches and some of the plurality of rows have a second number of twisted knit stitches less than the first number of twisted knit stitches. 2. The stent of claim 1 , wherein a length of the intermediate rung portions in the collapsed configuration is less than a length of the intermediate rung portions in the expanded configuration. 3. The stent of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the plurality of twisted knit stitches are suspended from a twisted knit stitch in a preceding row. 4. The stent of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the plurality of twisted knit stitches are suspended from an intermediate rung portion of a preceding row. 5. The stent of claim 1 , wherein the elongated tubular member is formed from a single filament interwoven with itself to form the plurality of twisted knit stitches and intermediate rung portions. 6. The stent of claim 1 , wherein the elongated tubular member has at least a first portion and a second portion, the second portion having a lower radial force in the expanded configuration than the first portion. 7. The stent of claim 6 , wherein the plurality of rows extend circumferentially around the elongated tubular member, wherein the first portion includes some of the plurality of rows having the first number of twisted knit stitches and the second portion includes some of the plurality of rows having the second number of twisted knit stitches, wherein the twisted knit stitches form axially extending columns. 8. The stent of claim 7 , wherein the plurality of rows in the first portion have a twisted knit stitch in every column and the plurality of rows in the second portion have a twisted knit stitch in every other column. 9. The stent of claim 8 , wherein adjacent rows in the second portion have twisted knit stitches in alternating columns. 10. The stent of claim 9 , wherein the twisted knit stitches in the second portion form a spiral pattern. 11. The stent of claim 8 , wherein adjacent rows in the second portion have twisted knit stitches in aligned columns. 12. The stent of claim 8 , further comprising a third portion having the same radial force as the first portion, wherein the second portion is disposed between the first and third portions. 13. A stent, the stent comprising: an elongated tubular member comprising a knitted filament defining a plurality of twisted knit stitches with intermediate rung portions extending between adjacent twisted knit stitches, the plurality of twisted knit stitches each include a loop portion and an overlapping base region, the elongated tubular member configured to move between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration; and wherein the elongated tubular member comprises a plurality of circumferential rows defining a first portion and a second portion, wherein the plurality of circumferential rows in the first portion define a first plurality of twisted knit stitches forming a plurality of axial columns, and the plurality of circumferential rows in the second portion define a second plurality of twisted knit stitches disposed in less than every column. 14. The stent of claim 13 , wherein at least some of the plurality of twisted knit stitches are suspended from a twisted knit stitch in a preceding row and at least some of the plurality of twisted knit stitches are suspended from an intermediate rung portion of a preceding row. 15. The stent of claim 13 , wherein the plurality of circumferential rows in the first portion have a twisted knit stitch in every column and the plurality of circumferential rows in the second portion have a twisted knit stitch in every other column. 16. The stent of claim 13 , wherein adjacent rows in the second portion have twisted knit stitches in alternating columns. 17. The stent of claim 13 , wherein the elongated tubular member is formed from a single filament interwoven with itself to form the plurality of twisted knit stitches and intermediate rung portions. 18. A stent, the stent comprising: an elongated tubular member comprising a knitted filament defining a plurality of twisted knit stitches each including a loop portion and an overlapping base region, with intermediate rung portions extending between adjacent twisted knit stitches, the elongated tubular member configured to move between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration; and wherein the elongated tubular member comprises a plurality of circumferential rows defining a first portion and a second portion, the second portion having a lower radial force in the expanded configuration than the first portion, wherein the plurality of circumferential rows in the first portion define a first plurality of twisted knit stitches forming a plurality of axial columns, and the plurality of circumferential rows in the second portion define a second plurality of twisted knit stitches in every other column.
