Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An example method may include configuring a pattern of a sounding packet of a first wireless node in a resource space. Configuring the pattern may include assigning first precoders to a first subset of the resource space for a first antenna sector of the first wireless node; and assigning second precoders to a second subset of the resource space for a second antenna sector of the first wireless node. The method may include wirelessly transmitting the sounding packet with the configured pattern to a second wireless node. The method may include transmitting data packets from the first wireless node to the second wireless node according to one or more transmission parameters that are at least one of received from the second wireless node or determined based on channel state information (CSI) feedback received from the second wireless node.

What is claimed is: 1. A method, comprising: generating at least one of: channel state information (CSI) or one or more transmission parameters based on a sounding packet, the one or more transmission parameters including at least one of: transmit antenna state or a beamforming matrix, wherein the sounding packet comprises multiple pluralities of precoders associated with subsets of a resource space, wherein a given plurality of the multiple pluralities of precoders is received at a wireless node from a particular antenna sector of a sender node; and sending at least one of the one or more transmission parameters and CSI feedback that includes or is derived from the CSI, wherein the CSI is to be reconstructed by the wireless node based on the CSI feedback, including based on calculated CSI for the first antenna sector, CSI for the second antenna sector; and at least one of a smoothing operation, or an interpolation operation on the calculated CSI for the first antenna sector and the second antenna sector to estimate CSI for the third antenna sector. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining whether to transmit the at least one of the one or more transmission parameters for the sender node and the CSI feedback based on: a flag set during link setup with the sender node; or a flag set in the sounding packet itself. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource space is a single carrier resource space; and a first subset of the resource space and a second subset of the resource space are based on at least one of a predetermined subset, frequency hopping, time domain, and code domain. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource space is an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) time-frequency resource space; and a first subset and second subset of the resource space are subsets of active tones in the OFDM time-frequency resource space. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sounding packet is configured to sound a first subset of a plurality of antenna sectors of the sender node without sounding a second subset of the plurality of antenna sectors of the sender node. 6. A non-transitory computer readable medium, comprising instructions that when executed the instructions cause a system to: configure a pattern of a sounding packet of a primary wireless node in a resource space, comprising: assigning multiple pluralities of precoders to subsets of the resource space for an associated antenna sector of a first wireless node, the primary wireless node having a plurality of antenna sectors that includes multiple antenna sectors, wherein the sounding packet is configured to sound a first subset of the plurality of antenna sectors of the primary wireless node without sounding a second subset of the plurality of antenna sectors of the primary wireless node; transmit the sounding packet with the configured pattern; and transmit data packets according to one or more transmission parameters; and reconstruct channel state information CSI based on CSI feedback for a first antenna sector, a second antenna sector, and a third antenna sector between the first antenna sector and the second antenna sector, wherein the third antenna sector is in the second subset of the plurality of antenna sectors that are not sounded by the sounding packet, wherein the CSI feedback includes feedback for the first antenna sector and the second antenna sector, wherein each of the first and second antenna sectors is in a first subset of the plurality of antenna sectors; wherein execution of the instructions are further to cause the system to calculate the one or more transmission parameters at the primary wireless node based on the reconstructed CSI. 7. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the transmission parameters are received from a second wireless node. 8. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the one or more transmission parameters include a transmit antenna state to send the data packets. 9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the one or more transmission parameters include a beamforming matrix to send the data packets. 10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , wherein the transmission parameters are determined based on the CSI feedback received from a second wireless node. 11. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6 , wherein to reconstruct CSI for the first antenna sector, the second antenna sector, and the third antenna sector comprises: calculate CSI for the first antenna sector from the CSI feedback; calculate CSI for the second antenna sector from the CSI feedback; and perform at least one of a smoothing operation and an interpolation operation on the calculated CSI for the first antenna sector and the second antenna sector to estimate CSI for the third antenna sector.
