A computing system that can receive an object search request from a user indicating a request to search for a specific object in an area traversed by one or more autonomous vehicle. The object search request can include a set of physical characteristics of the specific object. The computing system can then transmit a signal to an autonomous vehicle indicating a request for the autonomous vehicle to search for the specific object. The signal can cause the autonomous vehicle to transmit an image, selected based on a physical characteristic of the object, to the computing system. The computing system can then generate a score indicative of a difference between one or more physical characteristic of the object in the image and the specific object. The computing system can then selectively transmit the image to a mobile device operated by the user based on the score.

What is claimed is: 1. A computing device, comprising: a processor; and memory that stores computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform acts comprising: receiving an object search request from a user of the computing device, the object search request identifies a specific object for which a search is performed in a geographic area; causing an autonomous vehicle to passively search images captured by the autonomous vehicle for the specific object in the geographic area while the autonomous vehicle travels in the geographic area; and receiving an image captured by the autonomous vehicle responsive to the autonomous vehicle passively searching the images for the specific object in the geographic area. 2. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the object search request specifies a search area. 3. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein a size of a search area is predefined based on a type of the specific object. 4. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the object search request specifies a physical characteristic of the specific object, and wherein an object depicted in the image comprises the physical characteristic. 5. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the specific object comprises a specific person. 6. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the specific object comprises a specific animal. 7. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the object search request comprises a photograph of the specific object for which the search is performed. 8. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of autonomous vehicles in a fleet passively search images respectively captured by the autonomous vehicles for the specific object in the geographic area, and wherein the plurality of autonomous vehicles comprises the autonomous vehicle. 9. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein a route of the autonomous vehicle is set by a third-party user independent of the object search request. 10. The computing device of claim 1 , the acts further comprising: prompting the user of the computing device to enter information specifying a characteristic of the specific object responsive to the user entering the object search request. 11. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the autonomous vehicle is caused to passively search the images captured by the autonomous vehicle for the specific object in the geographic area by transmitting a request to a server computing system, wherein the server computing system identifies the autonomous vehicle to perform the search in the geographic area. 12. The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the autonomous vehicle is caused to discontinue passively searching the images for the specific object when the autonomous vehicle exits a search area. 13. A method performed by a computing device, comprising: receiving an object search request from a user of the computing device, the object search request identifies a specific object for which a search is performed in a geographic area; causing an autonomous vehicle to passively search images captured by the autonomous vehicle for the specific object in the geographic area while the autonomous vehicle travels in the geographic area, wherein a route of the autonomous vehicle is set by a third-party user independent of the object search request; and receiving an image captured by the autonomous vehicle responsive to the autonomous vehicle passively searching the images for the specific object in the geographic area. 14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the object search request specifies a search area. 15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the object search request specifies a physical characteristic of the specific object, and wherein an object depicted in the image comprises the physical characteristic. 16. The method of claim 13 , wherein the object search request comprises a photograph of the specific object for which the search is performed. 17. The method of claim 13 , further comprising: prompting the user of the computing device to enter information specifying a characteristic of the specific object responsive to the user entering the object search request. 18. The method of claim 13 , further comprising: transmitting a request to a server computing system to cause the autonomous vehicle to passively search the images captured by the autonomous vehicle for the specific object in the geographic area, wherein the server computing system identifies the autonomous vehicle to perform the search in the geographic area. 19. The method of claim 13 , wherein the autonomous vehicle is caused to discontinue passively searching the images for the specific object when the autonomous vehicle exits a search area. 20. A method performed by a server computing system, comprising: receiving a search request from a computing device, the search request identifies a specific object for which a search is performed in a geographic area; identifying an autonomous vehicle to perform the search in the geographic area; transmitting a request to the autonomous vehicle, wherein the request causes the autonomous vehicle to passively search images captured by the autonomous vehicle for the specific object in the geographic area while the autonomous vehicle travels in the geographic area; receiving a subset of the images captured by the autonomous vehicle responsive to the request, wherein a set of received images received by the server computing system comprises at least the subset of the images captured by the autonomous vehicle; selecting an image from the set of the received images based on the search request; and transmitting the image to the computing device.
