An article of footwear with a dynamic support system that controls arrays of tiles in the upper of the footwear to adjust the level of support provided in different regions of the upper. Sensors in the sole of the footwear, in the upper of the footwear and/or in an article worn by the wearer of the footwear measure the level of stress or other characteristics and provide input to one or more microprocessors that control motors located in the sole or in the upper of the footwear. When the motors are activated, they may compress or loosen arrays of tiles to adjust the stiffness of the upper in one or more regions of the upper.

What is claimed is: 1. A first article of footwear and a second article of footwear, the first article of footwear comprising: a first power source; a first microprocessor operatively coupled to the first power source; a first pressure sensor in a first sole of the first article of footwear in communication with the first microprocessor; a dynamic support system, comprising: a motor, operatively coupled to the first power source, in communication with the first microprocessor; a cable; and a reel attached to the motor and taking up the cable; the second article of footwear comprising: a second power source; a second microprocessor operatively coupled to the second power source; a second pressure sensor in a second sole of the second article of footwear in communication with the second microprocessor; wherein the first microprocessor of the first article of footwear is configured to receive input from both the first pressure sensor of the first article of footwear and the second pressure sensor of the second article of footwear from the second article of footwear, and to respond to input received from the first and second pressure sensors by activating the first motor to operate the first dynamic support system. 2. The first article of footwear and the second article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the first microprocessor and the second microprocessor are configured to be placed in wireless communication with each other. 3. The first article of footwear and the second article of footwear of claim 2 , wherein the second pressure sensor is in communication with the second microprocessor and wherein the first microprocessor is configured to receive data indicative of a level of pressure from the second pressure sensor via wireless communication with the second microprocessor, and wherein the first pressure sensor is in communication with the first microprocessor and wherein the second microprocessor is configured to receive data indicative of a level of pressure from the first pressure sensor via wireless communication with the first microprocessor. 4. The first article of footwear and the second article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the dynamic support system further comprises an array of tiles that is mechanically connected to the reel by a plurality of cables, including the cable, traversing the first array of tiles diagonally. 5. The first article of footwear and the second article of footwear of claim 4 , wherein the array of tiles is located in a forefoot region of an upper of the first article of footwear and the first pressure sensor is located in a big toe region of the first sole. 6. The first article of footwear and the second article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the dynamic support system further comprises an array of tiles that is mechanically connected to the reel by a plurality of cables including the cable, wherein the plurality of cables is laced through alternate columns and alternate rows of the array of tiles. 7. The first article of footwear and the second article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the second article includes an accelerometer sensor. 8. The first article of footwear and the second article of footwear of claim 7 , wherein the accelerometer sensor is in communication with the second microprocessor and wherein the first microprocessor is configured to receive data indicative of a level of acceleration from the accelerometer sensor via wireless communication with the second microprocessor. 9. The first article of footwear and the second article of footwear of claim 8 , wherein the first microprocessor is configured to respond to input received from the accelerometer by activating the dynamic support system. 10. A method of making a first article of footwear and a second article of footwear comprising: making the first article of footwear by: obtaining a first power source; operatively coupling a first microprocessor to the first power source; positioning a first pressure sensor in a first sole of the first article of footwear in communication with the first microprocessor; positioning a dynamic support system in the first article of footwear, comprising: a motor, operatively coupled to the first power source, in communication with the first microprocessor; a cable; and a reel attached to the motor and taking up the cable; making the second article of footwear by: obtaining a second power source; operatively coupling a second microprocessor to the second power source; positioning a second pressure sensor in a second sole of the second article of footwear in communication with the second microprocessor; configuring the first microprocessor of the first article of footwear to receive input from both the first pressure sensor of the first article of footwear and the second pressure sensor of the second article of footwear from the second article of footwear, and to respond to input received from the first and second pressure sensors by activating the first motor to operate the first dynamic support system. 11. The method of claim 10 , wherein configuring the first microprocessor includes configuring the first microprocessor to be placed in wireless communication with the second microprocessor. 12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising place the second pressure sensor in communication with the second microprocessor and wherein the first microprocessor is configured to receive data indicative of a level of pressure from the second pressure sensor via wireless communication with the second microprocessor, and further comprising placing the first pressure sensor in communication with the first microprocessor and wherein the second microprocessor is configured to receive data indicative of a level of pressure from the first pressure sensor via wireless communication with the first microprocessor. 13. The method of claim 10 , wherein the dynamic support system further comprises an array of tiles that is mechanically connected to the reel by a plurality of cables, including the cable, traversing the first array of tiles diagonally. 14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising: positioning the array of tiles in a forefoot region of an upper of the first article of footwear; and positioning the first pressure sensor in a big toe region of the first sole. 15. The method of claim 10 , wherein the dynamic support system further comprises an array of tiles that is mechanically connected to the reel by a plurality of cables including the cable, and further comprising lacing the plurality of cables through alternate columns and alternate rows of the array of tiles. 16. The method of claim 10 , further comprising operatively coupling an accelerometer sensor to the second microprocessor. 17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the accelerometer sensor is in communication with the second microprocessor and wherein the first microprocessor is configured to receive data indicative of a level of acceleration from the accelerometer sensor via wireless communication with the second microprocessor. 18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the first microprocessor is configured to respond to input received from the accelerometer by activating the dynamic support system.
