A filter arrangement for threadably securing to a filter head includes a housing having a surrounding wall defining an interior volume, an open mouth providing access to the interior volume and an end opposite of the open mouth. The surrounding wall has an exterior and an interior. A filter media construction is operably held within the interior volume. A sleeve, distinct from the housing, is secured to the exterior of the surrounding wall adjacent to the housing mouth and extending partially along the surrounding wall. The sleeve has an exterior and an interior. The exterior of the sleeve defines mounting threads constructed and arranged to removably mount with the filter head, when the filter arrangement is secured to the filter head. The interior of the sleeve is against the exterior of the surrounding wall. A first seal member is oriented against the sleeve to create a seal with a filter head, when the filter arrangement is secured to the filter head. A filter assembly includes a filter arrangement and a filter head. The filter arrangement is removably secured to the filter head by a threaded connection between the sleeve and the filter head. A system includes an engine utilizing a liquid and a filter assembly in fluid communication with the engine to filter the liquid. Methods of making filter arrangements include utilizing structures characterized above.

What is claimed is: 1. A filter arrangement for threadably securing to a filter head, the filter arrangement comprising: (a) a housing having a surrounding wall defining an interior volume, an open mouth providing access to the interior volume, and an end opposite of the open mouth; the surrounding wall having an exterior and an interior; (b) a filter cartridge operably held within the interior volume; the filter cartridge including: (i) a cylindrical arrangement of filter media; (ii) a first end cap secured to an end of the filter media; (iii) a second end cap secured to an end of the filter media opposite of the first end cap; (iv) a filter element seal member held by the first end cap; and (v) an inner filter liner surrounded by the filter media; (c) a sleeve secured to the housing; the sleeve having an exterior and an interior; (i) the exterior of the sleeve defining mounting threads constructed and arranged to removably mount with the filter head, when the filter arrangement is secured to the filter head; (ii) the exterior of the sleeve having an outwardly facing first groove; (iii) the exterior of the sleeve having an outwardly facing second groove, (iv) the sleeve having a flange radially extending therefrom and axially between the first groove and second groove; (d) a first seal member held by the sleeve in the first groove; (e) a second seal member held by the sleeve in the second groove; and (f) an extension extending from the housing over a portion of the sleeve and against the first seal member; (i) wherein a seal is formed between and against the first seal member and the extension. 2. A filter arrangement according to claim 1 wherein the extension of the housing terminates in a recess in the sleeve between the first seal member and second seal member. 3. A filter arrangement according to claim 2 wherein the extension of the housing terminates in the recess and adjacent the flange. 4. A filter arrangement according to claim 1 wherein the first end cap includes centering structure constructed and arranged to center the filter media construction within the housing interior volume. 5. A filter arrangement according to claim 1 wherein the interior of the sleeve is against the exterior of the surrounding wall. 6. A filter arrangement according to claim 1 wherein the second groove is located axially between the mounting threads and the first groove. 7. A filter arrangement according to claim 1 wherein the extension extends over a first end of the sleeve and against the first seal member. 8. A filter arrangement according to claim 7 wherein the mounting threads are located axially between the second groove and a second end of the sleeve. 9. A filter arrangement for threadably securing to a filter head, the filter arrangement comprising: (a) a housing having a surrounding wall defining an interior volume, an open mouth providing access to the interior volume, and an end opposite of the open mouth; (b) a filter cartridge operably held within the interior volume; the filter cartridge including: (i) a cylindrical arrangement of filter media; (ii) a first end cap secured to an end of the filter media; (iii) a second end cap secured to an end of the filter media opposite of the first end cap; (iv) a filter element seal member held by the first end cap; and (v) an inner filter liner surrounded by the filter media; (c) a sleeve secured to the housing; (i) the sleeve defining mounting threads constructed and arranged to removably mount with the filter head, when the filter arrangement is secured to the filter head; (ii) the sleeve having a first groove; (iii) a first seal member ( 98 ) held by the first groove against the housing surrounding wall to form a seal between and against the sleeve and the housing surrounding wall; (iv) the sleeve having a second groove; (v) a second seal member ( 74 ) held by the second groove; and (vi) the sleeve having a flange radially extending therefrom and adjacent to the mounting threads; and (d) an extension extending from the housing over a portion of the sleeve. 10. A filter arrangement according to claim 9 wherein the extension of the housing terminates in a recess in the sleeve adjacent the open mouth of the housing. 11. A filter arrangement according to claim 9 wherein: (a) the housing surrounding wall has an exterior; (b) the sleeve has an interior and an exterior; and (c) the first seal member is between and against the interior of the sleeve and exterior of the housing surrounding wall. 12. A filter arrangement according to claim 9 wherein: (a) the sleeve has a first rim adjacent the open mouth and an opposite second rim; and (b) the flange is axially between the second rim and the mounting threads. 13. A filter arrangement according to claim 9 wherein the first seal member is axially between the mounting threads and the second seal member. 14. A filter arrangement according to claim 9 wherein the first seal member is radially inwardly directed.
