Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Electromagnetic shielding about both of electric connectors, which are in a mutually mated state, can be sufficiently carried out by a simple configuration. Shield wall portions composed of electrically-conductive members opposed to contact connecting portions (board connecting portions) of a plurality of contact members arranged in multipolar shapes are provided; electromagnetic shielding functions with respect to the contact connecting portions in the respective electric connectors are obtained well by the respective shield wall portions; and, when both of the electric connectors are mated with each other, the shield wall portions are configured to be in an inner/outer double disposition relation in which they are opposed to each other and efficiently block the gaps between the shield wall portions and wiring boards so that sufficient EMI measures can be expected.

What is claimed is: 1. An electric connector device comprising: a first electric connector comprising: a first insulating housing having a first lower surface facing a first wiring board; three or more first contact members held by the first insulating housing so as to be arranged along an arrangement direction along the first lower surface and electrically connected to the first wiring board; and a first conductive shell surrounding the first insulating housing and the three or more first contact members; and a second electric connector comprising: a second insulating housing having a second lower surface facing a second wiring board; three or more second contact members held by the second insulating housing and electrically connected to a second wiring board; and a second conductive shell surrounding the second insulating housing and the three or more second contact members, wherein the second conductive shell is configured to be fitted with the first conductive shell, and the three or more second contact members are configured to be in contact with the three or more first contact members respectively when the second conductive shell is fitted with the first conductive shell, wherein the first conductive shell comprises: a side wall oriented along the arrangement direction and facing a side surface of the first insulating housing and laterally aligned with the three or more first contact members; and a side piece connected to an edge of the side wall, the side piece bent with respect to the side wall, wherein an outer surface of the side piece includes a curved side shoulder surface connected to the side wall, and wherein a distance between an end of the side piece and the first wiring board is smaller than a distance between the first wiring board and an outermost portion of the side shoulder surface relative to the first wiring board. 2. The electric connector device according to claim 1 , wherein each of the three or more first contact members has a connecting end facing the side wall and electrically connected to the first wiring board between the side surface of the first insulating housing and the side wall. 3. The electric connector device according to claim 1 , wherein the side piece includes a planar cover that is parallel to the first wiring board. 4. The electric connector device according to claim 1 , wherein the side piece is bent with respect to the side wall toward a center of the first insulating housing and covers at least a portion of a space between the side wall and the first insulating housing. 5. The electric connector device according to claim 4 , wherein the first insulating housing has an upper surface facing away from the first wiring board, and wherein the side piece covers at least a portion of the upper surface. 6. The electric connector device according to claim 1 , wherein the side shoulder surface is configured to provide contact with the second conductive shell when the second conductive shell is partially disconnected from the first conductive shell in a direction perpendicular to the arrangement direction while facilitating a smooth sliding connection of the second conductive shell with the first conductive shell. 7. The electric connector device according to claim 6 , wherein the three or more second contact members are configured to approach the three or more first contact members respectively during sliding connection of the second conductive shell with the first conductive shell along the side shoulder surface. 8. The electric connector device according to claim 1 , wherein the first conductive shell further comprises: an end wall facing an end surface of the first insulating housing in the arrangement direction; and an end piece connected to an edge of the end wall, the end piece bent with respect to the end wall, wherein an outer surface of the end piece includes a curved end shoulder surface connected to the end wall, wherein a distance between an end of the end piece and the first wiring board is smaller than a distance between the first wiring board and an outermost portion of the end shoulder surface relative to the first wiring board. 9. The electric connector device according to claim 8 , wherein the first insulating housing has an upper surface facing away from the first wiring board, wherein the side piece is bent with respect to the side wall toward a center of the first insulating housing and covers at least a portion of a space between the side wall and the first insulating housing, and wherein the end piece is bent with respect to the end wall toward the center of the first insulating housing and covers at least a portion of the upper surface. 10. The electric connector device according to claim 9 , wherein the side piece covers at least a portion of the upper surface. 11. The electric connector device according to claim 10 , wherein a portion of the end shoulder surface and a portion of the side shoulder surface overlap each other in a direction perpendicular to the first wiring board. 12. The electric connector device according to claim 11 , wherein the end piece is bent toward a center of the first insulating housing with respect to the end wall, and wherein the side piece is bent toward the center of the first insulating housing with respect to the side wall. 13. The electric connector device according to claim 12 , wherein the end shoulder surface forms an outermost perimeter of the first conductive shell in the arrangement direction, and the side shoulder surface forms an outermost perimeter of the first conductive shell in a direction perpendicular to the arrangement direction. 14. The electric connector device according to claim 13 , wherein the side shoulder surface is configured to provide contact with the second conductive shell when the second conductive shell is partially disconnected from the first conductive shell in a direction perpendicular to the arrangement direction while facilitating a smooth sliding connection of the second conductive shell with the first conductive shell, and wherein the end shoulder surface is configured to provide contact with the second conductive shell when the second conductive shell is partially disconnected from the first conductive shell in the arrangement direction while facilitating a smooth sliding connection of the second conductive shell with the first conductive shell. 15. The electric connector device according to claim 14 , wherein the three or more second contact members are configured to approach the three or more first contact members respectively during sliding connection of the second conductive shell with the first conductive shell along the side shoulder surface and the end shoulder surface.
