A coil component includes a core including a winding core portion, a first flange portion, and a second flange portion, and a plate member that is mounted on the first flange portion and the second flange portion. A distance in a height direction between the plate member and the first flange portion, or a distance in the height direction between the plate member and the second flange portion, or both vary in a length direction, or in a width direction, or both.

What is claimed is: 1. A coil component comprising: a core including a winding core portion that extends in a length direction of the coil component, a first flange portion that is disposed on a first end portion of the winding core portion in the length direction, and a second flange portion that is disposed on a second end portion of the winding core portion in the length direction, each of the first flange portion and the second flange portion having a top part; a first recessed portion is formed on the top part of the first flange portion in a height direction of the coil component that is perpendicular to the length direction; a plate member that is mounted on the first flange portion and the second flange portion so as to connect the top part of the first flange portion in the height direction and the top part of the second flange portion in the height direction to each other; and a second recessed portion is formed in the plate member in the height direction, the second recessed portion overlaps with the first recessed portion. 2. The coil component of claim 1 , wherein a third recessed portion is formed in the plate member in the height direction. 3. The coil component of claim 2 , wherein a first imaginary line parallel to the length direction extends through the second recessed portion and the third recessed portion. 4. The coil component of claim 1 , wherein the plate member is mounted on the first flange portion and the second flange portion with adhesive. 5. The coil component of claim 4 , wherein the adhesive is between the plate member and the top parts of the first and second flange portions. 6. The coil component of claim 1 , wherein a first wire and a second wire are wound around the winding core portion in the same direction. 7. The coil component of claim 6 , wherein a first terminal electrode is disposed on a bottom part of the first flange portion in the height direction and is connected to a first end portion of the first wire; a second terminal electrode is disposed on the bottom part of the first flange portion and is connected to a first end portion of the second wire; a third terminal electrode is disposed on a bottom part of the second flange portion in the height direction and is connected to a second end portion of the first wire; and a fourth terminal electrode is disposed on the bottom part of the second flange portion and is connected to a second end portion of the second wire. 8. The coil component of claim 1 , wherein the first recessed portion is formed by at least one side extending in the height direction from the top part of the first flange portion. 9. The coil component of claim 1 , wherein the plate member includes a plate member surface facing toward the first flange portion and the second flange portion, and the second recessed portion is formed by at least one side extending in the height direction from the plate member surface. 10. The coil component of claim 1 , wherein the first recessed portion and the second recessed portion are entirely enclosed by the first flange portion and the plate member. 11. A coil component comprising: a core including a winding core portion that extends in a length direction of the coil component, a first flange portion that is disposed on a first end portion of the winding core portion in the length direction, and a second flange portion that is disposed on a second end portion of the winding core portion in the length direction; and a plate member that is mounted on the first flange portion and the second flange portion with adhesive so as to connect a top part of the first flange portion in a height direction and a top part of the second flange portion in the height direction to each other, wherein a width direction of the coil component is perpendicular to the length direction and the height direction, a recessed portion is formed on at least one of the top part of the first flange portion in the height direction and a portion of the plate member that faces the first flange portion in the height direction, the first flange portion includes an inner surface that faces the winding core portion in the length direction, an outer surface opposite the inner surface in the length direction, a first side surface and a second side surface that face each other in the width direction and connect the inner surface to the outer surface, and the recessed portion is spaced from the inner surface, the outer surface, the first side surface, and the second side surface of the first flange portion. 12. The coil component of claim 11 , wherein the plate member includes a first surface that faces the core in the height direction and a second surface opposite the first surface, and a first side surface and a second side surface that face each other in the width direction and connect the first surface to the second surface, and the recessed portion is spaced from the first side surface and the second side surface of the plate member. 13. The coil component of claim 11 , including a first wire and a second wire that are wound around the winding core portion in the same direction. 14. The coil component of claim 13 , wherein a first terminal electrode is disposed on a bottom part of the first flange portion in the height direction and is connected to a first end portion of the first wire; a second terminal electrode is disposed on the bottom part of the first flange portion and that is connected to a first end portion of the second wire; a third terminal electrode is disposed on a bottom part of the second flange portion in the height direction and that is connected to a second end portion of the first wire; and a fourth terminal electrode is disposed on the bottom part of the second flange portion and that is connected to a second end portion of the second wire. 15. The coil component of claim 11 , wherein the recessed portion is formed by at least one side extending in the height direction from the top part of the first flange portion. 16. The coil component of claim 11 , wherein the plate member includes a plate member surface facing toward the first flange portion and the second flange portion, and the recessed portion is formed by at least one side extending in the height direction from the plate member surface. 17. The coil component of claim 11 , wherein the recessed portion is entirely enclosed by the first flange portion and the plate member. 18. A coil component comprising: a core including a winding core portion that extends in a length direction of the coil component; a first flange portion that is disposed on a first end portion of the winding core portion in the length direction, the first flange portion including a first top surface; a second flange portion that is disposed on a second end portion of the winding core portion in the length direction, the second flange portion including a second top surface; a plate member including a plate member surface that faces toward the core, the plate member surface is attached to the first top surface and the second top surface so as to connect the first top surface of the first flange portion in a height direction and the second top surface of the second flange portion in the height direction to each other, the plate member extending in the length direction and in a width direction perpendicular to the length direction and the height direction; and a first recessed portion is formed in at least one of the first top surface of the first flange portion in the height direction and the plate member surface such that at least
