Official abstract text for this publication.
A fish stick includes a light emitting component, such as a lighted tip, near the leading end of the fish stick. The lighted tip includes a curved lens that directs some light around an attachment piece at the end of the fish stick and generally in the forward direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fish stick. The fish stick may be made of a phosphorescent material and stored in a lit container with an LED and reflective surfaces. The fish stick may be made of multiple rods that are threadably engaged with each other and include a spring biasing element that increases the coefficient of friction between the threads of the rods. The fish stick may also be made of multiple rods that are threadably engaged with each other via collars.

What is claimed is: 1. A fish stick for routing cables comprising: a lighted component; a rod comprising: a first end coupled to the lighted component, the first end comprising a first indicia of stiffness; a second end opposing the first end, the second end comprising a second indicia of stiffness; and a body portion coupled to and extending between the first end and the second end; wherein the first indicia of stiffness and the second indicia of stiffness indicate a stiffness of the body portion of the rod; and wherein the body portion is formed from a phosphorescent material. 2. The fish stick of claim 1 , wherein the rod comprises a plurality of rods that are releasably coupled together. 3. The fish stick of claim 1 , wherein a color of light emitted by the body portion indicates the stiffness of the rod. 4. The fish stick of claim 1 , wherein the body portion is configured to store energy absorbed from UV light. 5. The fish stick of claim 1 , wherein the first indicia of stiffness and the second indicia of stiffness have a color to indicate the stiffness of the body portion. 6. The fish stick of claim 5 , wherein a red color indicates a first stiffness, yellow indicates a second stiffness, and blue indicates a third stiffness. 7. The fish stick of claim 6 , wherein the second stiffness is less than the first stiffness and greater than the third stiffness. 8. The fish stick of claim 1 , the lighted component further comprising: a housing; a light transmission end comprising a cylindrical bore, the cylindrical bore being configured to receive and couple to the rod; a light emitting source; and a curved lens coupled to the cylindrical bore, the curved lens redirects light emitted by the light emitting source around the cylindrical bore. 9. A fish stick for routing cables comprising: a lighted tip; a first rod comprising: a first end coupled to the lighted tip, the first end comprising a first indicia of stiffness; a second end opposing the first end; and a first body portion coupled to and extending between the first end and the second end; and a second rod comprising: a first end coupled to the second end of the first rod, the first end of the second rod comprising a second indicia of stiffness; a second end opposing the first end of the second rod; and a second body portion coupled to and extending between the first end and the second end of the second rod; wherein the first body portion is formed from a phosphorescent material. 10. The fish stick of claim 9 , wherein the second body portion is formed from the phosphorescent material. 11. The fish stick of claim 10 , wherein a color of light emitted by the second body portion indicates a stiffness of the second body portion. 12. The fish stick of claim 9 , wherein the second body portion is at least partially wrapped in a phosphorescent material. 13. The fish stick of claim 9 , wherein the second end of the first rod and the first end of the second rod are releasably coupled together via threads. 14. The fish stick of claim 9 , wherein the first body portion and the second body portion each comprise a reflective surface. 15. The fish stick of claim 9 , wherein the first indicia of stiffness indicates a stiffness of the first body portion and wherein the second indicia of stiffness indicates a stiffness of the second body portion. 16. The fish stick of claim 15 , wherein the stiffness of the first body portion is different than the stiffness of the second body portion. 17. The fish stick of claim 15 , wherein a color of light emitted by the first body portion indicates the stiffness of the first body portion. 18. A fish stick for routing cables comprising: a lighted component; a rod comprising: a first end coupled to the lighted component, the first end comprising an indicia of stiffness; a second end opposing the first end; and a body portion coupled to and extending between the first end and the second end; wherein the indicia of stiffness indicates a stiffness of the body portion of the rod; and wherein the body portion is formed from a phosphorescent material. 19. The fish stick of claim 18 , wherein the second end is formed from the phosphorescent material and wherein a color of light emitted by the body portion and the second end indicates the stiffness of the rod. 20. The fish stick of claim 18 , the rod comprising a first rod and second rod releasably coupled together, the first rod and the second rod each comprising a first threaded surface, a second threaded surface, and a collar with a third threaded surface that threadably engages the second threaded surface, the collar of the first rod threadably engaging the first threaded surface of the second rod.
