A medical device may include a plurality of links reciprocally movable between a loose configuration having a first rigidity and a compact configuration having a second rigidity greater than the first rigidity, wherein application of a force to a distalmost link of the plurality of links when the plurality of links are in the loose configuration causes the plurality of links to change orientation relative to one another, and application of the force to the distalmost link when the plurality of links are in the compact configuration does not cause the plurality of links to change orientation relative to one another.

What is claimed is: 1. A medical device, comprising: a plurality of links movably coupled to one another, the plurality of links including a proximal link and a distal link having an opening, the proximal link and the distal link are configured to move relative to one another between a longitudinally extended configuration and a longitudinally compressed configuration; a lumen extending through the plurality of links, the lumen is configured to receive a tool through the plurality of links, and the tool is configured to extend outward from the lumen via the opening at the distal link; and a biasing mechanism extending through the plurality of links and terminating at the distal link, the biasing mechanism configured to push the distal link distally relative to the proximal link, and toward the longitudinally extended configuration; wherein in the longitudinally extended configuration, the medical device has a first length and a first rigidity, and gaps between the plurality of links such that each link of a pair of adjacent links of the plurality of links is longitudinally separated from the other link of the pair by one of the gaps, wherein the plurality of links are movable in a lateral direction and a linear direction relative to one another due to the gaps; and wherein in the longitudinally compressed configuration, the medical device has a second rigidity that is different than the first rigidity, and a second length that is different than the first length, wherein the gaps between the plurality of links are removed such that each link of a pair of adjacent links of the plurality of links contacts the other link of the pair, and the plurality of links are immovable in the lateral direction and the linear direction relative to one another due to removal of the gaps. 2. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the plurality of links is configured to move in the lateral direction or the linear direction relative to other links of the plurality of links when the proximal link and the distal link are in the longitudinally extended configuration, and in response to an application of force to the one or more of the plurality of links. 3. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the plurality of links is configured to remain at a fixed position in the lateral direction and the linear direction relative to other links of the plurality of links when the proximal link and the distal link are in the longitudinally compressed configuration and in response to an application of force to the one or more of the plurality of links. 4. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein a central axis of each of the plurality of links is coaxial relative to one another when the proximal link and the distal link are in the longitudinally compressed configuration. 5. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein adjacent links of the plurality of links are prevented from moving in the lateral direction relative to one another due to the contact with one another when the proximal link and the distal link are in the longitudinally compressed configuration, and are only allowed to move in the lateral direction relative to one another when separated from one another when the proximal link and the distal link are in the longitudinally extended configuration. 6. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the proximal link and the distal link are biased toward the longitudinally extended configuration such that the plurality of links are maintained in a loose state when separated from one another. 7. The medical device of claim 1 , further including a mechanism configured to urge the proximal link and the distal link to the longitudinally compressed configuration, such that the plurality of links are maintained in a compact state when in contact with one another. 8. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of links form a rigid pushing member, that is configured to move tissue in response to the distal link abutting against the tissue, when the proximal link and the distal link are in the longitudinally compressed configuration. 9. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the first length is greater than the second length, and the first rigidity is less than the second rigidity. 10. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of links includes a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of each of the plurality of links is configured to at least partially receive the distal end of an adjacent link when the proximal link and the distal link are in the longitudinally compressed configuration. 11. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the tool includes a wire, a needle, a knife, a snare, a pair of forceps, a grasper, or an energy delivery device. 12. The medical device of claim 1 , further including a second lumen extending through the plurality of links, the second lumen is configured to receive a second tool through the plurality of links. 13. The medical device of claim 12 , wherein the distal link includes a second opening positioned adjacent to the opening, and the second tool is configured to extend outward from the second lumen via the second opening at the distal link. 14. The medical device of claim 1 , further including an actuation member extending through the plurality of links and terminating at the distal link, the actuation member is configured to pull the distal link proximally relative to the proximal link, and toward the longitudinally compressed configuration. 15. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the lumen is offset from a central axis of the plurality of links, the proximal link, and the distal link, such that the opening is off-centered relative to the distal link. 16. A medical device, comprising: a proximal link; a distal link; one or more intermediate links positioned between the proximal link and the distal link, wherein the proximal link, the distal link, and the one or more intermediate links are configured to move between an extended configuration and a compressed configuration; a lumen extending through the proximal link, the distal link, and the one or more intermediate links, the lumen terminates at an opening on the distal link, and is configured to deliver a tool through the proximal link, the distal link, and the one or more intermediate links; and a biasing mechanism extending through the proximal link and the one or more intermediate links and terminating at the distal link, the biasing mechanism configured to push the distal link distally relative to the proximal link, and toward the extended configuration; wherein the medical device has a greater length when in the extended configuration relative to the compressed configuration, and a greater rigidity when in the compressed configuration relative to the extended configuration; wherein gaps are disposed between the proximal link, the distal link, and the one or more intermediate links, such that the proximal link, the distal link, and the one or more intermediate links are laterally and linearly movable relative to one another due to the gaps longitudinally separating the links, when in the extended configuration, and the gaps between the proximal link, the distal link, and the one or more intermediate links are removed, such that the proximal link, the distal link, and the one or more intermediate links are laterally and linearly immovable relative to one another when in the compressed configuration due to removal of the gaps. 17. The medical device of claim 16 , wherein an orientation of the lumen is adjustable as the proximal link, the distal link, and the one or mo
