Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A computing device with a touch-sensitive display displays a menu for a touch-sensitive keyboard, the menu including a plurality of keyboard settings. In response to a first input in the menu, adjusting a first setting of a plurality of keyboard settings for a first application. In response to a second input in the menu, adjusting a second setting of the plurality of keyboard settings for a second application distinct from the first application.

What is claimed is: 1. A method, comprising: at a computing device with a touch-sensitive display: displaying a menu for a touch-sensitive keyboard, wherein the menu includes a plurality of keyboard settings; detecting a first input in the menu that adjusts a first keyboard setting of the plurality of keyboard settings for a first application of a plurality of applications; in response to the first input, adjusting the first keyboard setting for the first application; while continuing to display the menu, detecting a second input in the menu that adjusts a second keyboard setting of the plurality of keyboard settings for a second application of the plurality of applications, wherein the second application is different from the first application; and in response to the second input, adjusting the second keyboard setting for the second application. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one keyboard setting that, when selected, adjusts an animation displayed at the touch-sensitive keyboard in response to an input at the touch-sensitive keyboard. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first keyboard setting is different from the second keyboard setting. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one default keyboard setting for at least one application of the plurality of applications. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one application-specific keyboard setting. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one system-level keyboard setting. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein: adjusting the first keyboard setting for the first application includes overriding a system-level keyboard setting with an application-specific keyboard setting; and adjusting the second keyboard setting for the second application includes overriding a system-level keyboard setting with an application-specific keyboard setting. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein: adjusting the first keyboard setting for the first application does not adjust the second keyboard setting in the second application; and adjusting the second keyboard setting for the second application does not adjust the first keyboard setting in the first application. 9. A computing device, comprising: a touch-sensitive display; one or more processors; and memory storing executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to: display a menu for a touch-sensitive keyboard, wherein the menu includes a plurality of keyboard settings; detect a first input in the menu that adjusts a first keyboard setting of the plurality of keyboard settings for a first application of a plurality of applications; in response to the first input, adjust the first keyboard setting for the first application; while continuing to display the menu, detect a second input in the menu that adjusts a second keyboard setting of the plurality of keyboard settings for a second application of the plurality of applications, wherein the second application is different from the first application; and in response to the second input, adjust the second keyboard setting for the second application. 10. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one keyboard setting that, when selected, adjusts an animation displayed at the touch-sensitive keyboard in response to an input at the touch-sensitive keyboard. 11. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the first keyboard setting is different from the second keyboard setting. 12. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one default keyboard setting for at least one application of the plurality of applications. 13. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one application-specific keyboard setting. 14. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one system-level keyboard setting. 15. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein: adjusting the first keyboard setting for the first application includes overriding a system-level keyboard setting with an application-specific setting; and adjusting the second keyboard setting for the second application includes overriding a system-level keyboard setting with an application-specific keyboard setting. 16. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein: adjusting the first keyboard setting for the first application does not adjust the second keyboard setting in the second application; and adjusting the second keyboard setting for the second application does not adjust the first keyboard setting in the first application. 17. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing executable instructions that, when executed by a computing device with a touch-sensitive display, cause the computing device to: display a menu for a touch-sensitive keyboard, wherein the menu includes a plurality of keyboard settings; detect a first input in the menu that adjusts a first keyboard setting of the plurality of keyboard settings for a first application of a plurality of applications; in response to the first input, adjust the first keyboard setting for the first application; while continuing to display the menu, detect a second input in the menu that adjusts a second keyboard setting of the plurality of keyboard settings for a second application of the plurality of applications, wherein the second application is different from the first application; and in response to the second input, adjust the second keyboard setting for the second application. 18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one keyboard setting that, when selected, adjusts an animation displayed at the touch-sensitive keyboard in response to an input at the touch-sensitive keyboard. 19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the first keyboard setting is different from the second keyboard setting. 20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one default keyboard setting for at least one application of the plurality of applications. 21. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one application-specific keyboard setting. 22. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the plurality of keyboard settings includes at least one system-level keyboard setting. 23. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein: the instructions that cause the computing device to adjust the first keyboard setting for the first application further cause the computing device to override a system-level keyboard setting with an application-specific keyboard setting; and the instructions that cause the computing device to adjust the second keyboard setting for the second application further cause the computing device to override a system-level keyboard setting with an application-specific keyboard setting. 24. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein: the instructions that cause the com
