System, apparatus, device and methods relating to a telematic vehicle sharing platform ecosystem and a telematic vehicle share I/O expander to automate sharing and management of a vehicle that is shared by more than one operator.

The invention claimed is: 1. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle comprising: a telematic device having a vehicle portion and a vehicle share portion, the vehicle portion including a vehicle interface configured to connect via the vehicle interface to a vehicle bus to obtain vehicle data of the vehicle, and including a microprocessor, memory and firmware, the vehicle share portion communicating with said vehicle portion and including a sensor, a microprocessor, memory and firmware; wherein the microprocessor, memory and firmware of the vehicle portion are distinct from the microprocessor, memory and firmware of the vehicle share portion such that the vehicle share portion and the vehicle portion are two distinct portions from each other; a unique personal attribute associated with a user of said vehicle; said vehicle portion of said telematic device monitoring said vehicle via the vehicle bus to log and communicate vehicle data to at least one server via a communication network, said sensor of said vehicle share portion configured to identify said unique personal attribute in proximity to said vehicle; said vehicle portion of said telematic device receiving from said at least one server a validated reservation request indicative of said unique personal attribute, said vehicle share portion communicating with said vehicle portion to receive said validated reservation request for permitting operation of said vehicle, said device thereby providing a secured personal reservation with said vehicle for sharing and monitoring use of said vehicle. 2. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said sensor is a biometric sensor for sensing a biometric feature relating to said unique personal attribute. 3. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 2 wherein said biometric feature is selected from the group consisting of a face, a fingerprint, an eye and voice. 4. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said sensor is a proximity sensor for sensing a proximal device relating to said unique personal attribute. 5. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 4 , in combination with said proximal device, wherein said proximal device is an RFID tag. 6. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 4 , in combination with said proximal device, wherein said proximal device is a proximity card. 7. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said sensor includes wireless communication for sensing a personal device relating to said unique personal attribute. 8. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said vehicle interface is an OBDII connector. 9. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said vehicle data is selected from the group of speed data, location data, accelerometer data, oil level data, coolant level data, washer fluid level data, energy level data and engine data. 10. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 9 wherein said vehicle data provides indications of vehicle use and said indications of vehicle use are associated with said unique personal attribute. 11. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 10 wherein said vehicle use indicates maintenance and said vehicle data is selected from the group of energy level data, oil level data, coolant level data, washer fluid level data and location data. 12. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 10 wherein said vehicle use indicates recovery and said vehicle data is selected from the group of accelerometer data, fluid level data, energy level data and location data. 13. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 10 wherein said vehicle use indicates misuse and said vehicle data is selected from the group of accelerometer data and location data. 14. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 13 wherein said vehicle data further includes speed data and indications of harsh events from said accelerometer data. 15. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said operation of said vehicle is restricted to unlocking and locking said vehicle in a maintenance mode. 16. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said operation of said vehicle is restricted to a geofence area of operation of said vehicle within a defined space or range. 17. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said operation of said vehicle is restricted to a date and time of use. 18. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said vehicle share portion is configured to interface with an electronic vehicle key device, the electronic vehicle key device having a button configuration where either end of the button is a high or low value, wherein the microprocessor of the vehicle share portion is configured to perform an actuation validation process where a button-depressed or a button-released condition is monitored without the need to know the actual hardware configuration of the electronic vehicle key device. 19. A device for sharing and monitoring shared use of a vehicle as in claim 1 wherein said vehicle share portion is configured to interface with an electronic vehicle key device, the electronic vehicle key device having a button, wherein the microprocessor of the vehicle share portion is configured to perform a health check whereby the microprocessor of the vehicle share portion is configured to: ensure power to the electronic vehicle key device is off; thereafter enable a pull-up resistor; determine if a line cannot be pulled to a high state; disable the pull-up resistor; check whether the line was supposed to be connected based on a stored button configuration of the electronic vehicle key device; and report a fault if required.
