Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present patent application relates to a composition for topical application in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion comprising an oily phase dispersed in an aqueous phase, characterized in that it comprises at least one noncrosslinked amphiphilic polymer, the globules of the said emulsion exhibiting a mean size ranging from 15 to 500 microns and the oily phase being present in an amount of less than 35% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the composition.

The invention claimed is: 1. An oil-in-water emulsion composition comprising an oil phase and a water phase, wherein the composition comprises at least one amphiphlic polymer, wherein the at least one amphiphilic polymer is a polymer of natural origin modified by at least one fatty chain comprising 6 to 30 carbon atoms, wherein the oil phase is in the form of globules having a mean size ranging from 15 to 500 microns, wherein the oil phase is present in the composition in an amount of less than 3 5% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition, and wherein the composition is translucent and has a transmission of light at a wavelength equal to 500 nm, through a sample with a thickness of 50 μm measured using a Carry 600 UV/visible spectrophotometer at a wavelength equal to 500 nm. 2. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one amphiphilic polymer is present in the composition in an amount of from about 0.3% to about 2% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition. 3. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one amphiphilic polymer is present in the composition in an amount of from about 0.5% to about 2% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition. 4. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the polymer of natural origin is selected from the group consisting of cellulose, guar, starch and acacia gum. 5. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the polymer of natural origin is cellulose. 6. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one amphiphilic polymer is selected from the group consisting of: cetyl hydroxyethylcelluloses; hydroxypropylmethylcelluloses modified by at least one stearyloxyhydroxypropyl chain; hydroxyethylcelluloses quaternized by at least one substituted lauryldimethylammonium epoxide; quaternized hydroxyethylcelluloses modified by at least one lauryl chain; quaternized hydroxyethylcelluloses modified by at least one stearyl chain; and hydroxyethylcelluloses quaternized by trimethylammonium groups and substituted by at least one dimethyldodecylammonium chain. 7. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of oil phase is less than 33% by weight of the total weight of the composition. 8. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of oil phase ranges from 2 to 35% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition. 9. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the mean size of the globules is from 15 to 300 μm. 10. The composition according to claim 1 , which further comprises at least one cosmetic adjuvant selected from the group consisting of gelling agents, active principles, preservatives, antioxidants, fragrances, solvents, salts, fillers, sunscreens, coloring materials, basic agents, acidic agents, lipid vesicles, nanocapsules and microcapsules. 11. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of the at least one amphiphilic polymer is from 0.3 to 2% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the composition, wherein the ratio of the amount of oil phase to the amount of the at least one amphiphilic polymer is from 1 to 200, wherein the amount of oil phase ranges from 2 to 35% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition, and wherein the mean size of the globules is from 15 to 300 μm. 12. The composition according to claim 1 , in the form of a milk. 13. The composition according to claim 1 , in the form of a serum. 14. The composition according to claim 1 , having a viscosity of 0.13 to 0.94 Pa·s at 25° C. 15. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one amphiphilic polymer is cetyl hydroxyethylcellulose. 16. The composition according to claim 2 , wherein the at least one amphiphilic polymer is cetyl hydroxyethylcellulose. 17. The composition according to claim 3 , wherein the at least one amphiphilic polymer is cetyl hydroxyethylcellulose.
