Described herein is a packing box for mounting on a machinery shaft. In accordance with one aspect, the packing box housing defines a central opening for insertion of a movable machinery shaft with a hollow passageway surrounding the central opening to form a path for the flow of a fluid coolant. The passageway is provided with a fluid inlet port and a fluid outlet port opening onto the outer surface of the packing box housing, and it is formed by a single conduit or by a plurality of conduits obtained through additive manufacturing process and connected in series or in parallel to wound around the central opening.

What is claimed is: 1. A packing box configured to mount on a machinery shaft, the packing box comprising: a housing comprising packing cups stacked on a flange, the housing defining a circular opening therethrough for insertion of a movable machinery shaft therein, a lubricating passageway extending alongside the circular opening; a cooling circuit with a fluid input port and a fluid output port that open onto an outer surface of the housing, the cooling circuit comprising an internal circular conduit and an external circular conduit that form windings of a double-winding structure surrounding the circular opening to form a path for flow of a fluid coolant substantially completely around the circular opening, wherein each of the packing cups and the corresponding internal circular conduit and external circular conduit enclosed therein are integral elements constructed in a single piece by an additive manufacturing process. 2. The packing box of claim 1 , wherein the cooling circuit comprises curved sections winding around the circular opening. 3. The packing box of claim 1 , wherein the lubricating passageway comprises a single conduit. 4. The packing box according to claim 1 , further comprising: a temperature sensor located between the windings of the cooling circuit. 5. The packing box of claim 1 , further comprising: a first flow path coupled to the cooling circuit and forming the fluid output port. 6. The packing box of claim 1 , further comprising: a second flow path coupled to the cooling circuit and forming the fluid input port. 7. The packing box of claim 1 , wherein the fluid output port is formed in the flange. 8. The packing box of claim 1 , wherein the fluid input port is formed in the flange. 9. The packing box of claim 1 , further comprising: thermocouples disposed between windings of the cooling circuit. 10. The packing box of claim 1 , wherein the lubricating passageway comprises a plurality of conduits. 11. The packing box of claim 1 , wherein the windings are concentric. 12. The packing box of claim 1 , wherein the fluid coolant flows through the external circular conduit before the inner circular conduit.
