Ingredient containers for use in a beverage carbonation system are provided. The ingredient container includes a container body defining an interior hollow chamber, and a cap coupled to the opening of the container body. The container body has an opening leading to the interior hollow chamber and a cross-section with a major axis defining a width that is greater than a minor axis defining a depth. The cap has an inlet that is sealed to retain fluid within the container and that is configured to open to allow gas to be injected into the interior hollow chamber. The cap has an outlet that is sealed to retain fluid within the container and that is configured to open to allow fluid within the container to flow out through the outlet valve. The inlet and the outlet are aligned along a first axis that extends parallel to the minor axis of the container body.

What is claimed is: 1. An ingredient container for use in a beverage carbonation system, comprising: a container housing defining an interior hollow chamber, the container housing having a cross-section with a major axis defining a width that is greater than a minor axis defining a depth; an inlet disposed on the container housing and being sealed to retain fluid within the container, the inlet being configured to open to allow gas to be injected into the interior hollow chamber; and an outlet disposed on the container housing and being sealed to retain fluid within the sealed container, the outlet being configured to open to allow fluid within the container to flow out through an outlet valve disposed therein, wherein the inlet and the outlet are aligned along the minor axis of the container housing. 2. The ingredient container of claim 1 , wherein the minor axis extends substantially perpendicular to the major axis of the container housing. 3. The ingredient container of claim 1 , wherein the container housing comprises a container body coupled to a cap, and wherein the cap has an irregular shape. 4. The ingredient container of claim 1 , wherein the container housing comprises a container body coupled to a cap, and wherein the cap has a substantially triangular outer perimeter. 5. The ingredient container of claim 1 , wherein the container housing comprises a container body coupled to a cap, wherein the cap has a major axis and a minor axis, and wherein the minor axis or the container body extends substantially parallel to the minor axis of the cap. 6. The ingredient container of claim 1 , wherein the cross-section of the container housing containing the major and minor axes is ovular. 7. The ingredient container of claim 6 , wherein the inlet and outlet port are positioned along an axis that extends substantially perpendicular to the major axis of the cap. 8. The ingredient container of claim 6 , wherein the cap has a generally triangular cross-sectional shape. 9. The ingredient container of claim 8 , wherein the inlet and outlet valves are positioned along an axis extending substantially perpendicular to the first side. 10. The ingredient container of claim 6 , wherein the cap has an outer perimeter with first, second, and third sides, and wherein the first side is longer than the second and third sides. 11. The ingredient container of claim 6 , wherein the cap has a base wall having the inlet and outlet ports therein, and a sidewall extending around an outer perimeter of the base wall, the sidewall having a height that varies around the outer perimeter. 12. The ingredient container of claim 6 , wherein the container body has a cross-section with a major axis defining a width that is greater than a minor axis defining a depth, and wherein the cap major axis is aligned with the major axis of the container body. 13. A ingredient container, comprising: a container body defining an interior hollow chamber, the container body having an opening leading to the interior hollow chamber; and a cap positioned over the opening in the container body, the cap having an irregular shape with a major axis and a minor axis, the cap including an inlet port and an outlet port positioned along the minor axis.
