Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A sheet of polymeric material is made using an extruding process and articles are formed from the sheet of polymeric material. The sheet of polymeric material and the articles comprise one or more polypropylene resins. In some embodiments, the sheet of polymeric material and the articles formed form the sheet of polymeric material are transparent.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

The invention claimed is: 1. A lid comprising a brim mount adapted to couple to a container, and a closure coupled to the brim mount and adapted to at least partway close an aperture opening into the container, wherein the lid comprises at least 40% by weight polypropylene and a portion of the lid is arranged to move from a first arrangement in which the portion has a first transparency to a second arrangement in which the portion has a second transparency that is different than the first transparency, wherein the lid comprises a polypropylene impact copolymer first resin and a polypropylene impact copolymer second resin. 2. The lid of claim 1 , wherein the lid comprises between about 75% and about 95% by weight of the first resin and between about 5% and 25% by weight the second resin. 3. The lid of claim 1 , wherein a lightness of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement is between about 35 and about 65. 4. The lid of claim 1 , wherein a clarity of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement is between about 45% and about 95% as measured using ASTM D 1746 and a haze of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement is between about 20% and about 70% as measured using ASTM D 1003 procedure B. 5. The lid of claim 4 , wherein a delta lightness value between the lightness of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement and the lightness of the portion of the lid in the second arrangement is about 10 or greater. 6. The lid of claim 5 , the first resin has a first parts per million antistatic agent content and a first % by weight rubber content, the second resin has a second parts per million antistatic agent content and a second % by weight rubber content, and the first parts per million antistatic agent content is less than the second parts per million antistatic agent content and the first % by weight rubber content is less than the second % by weight rubber content. 7. The lid of claim 6 , wherein the lid comprises between about 75% and about 95% by weight of the first resin and between about 5% and 25% by weight the second resin. 8. The lid of claim 1 , wherein the lid includes a deformable product-identification dome coupled to the closure, the deformable product-identification dome is the portion of the lid arranged to move from the first arrangement in which the deformable product-identification dome extends upwardly away from the closure to the second arrangement in which the deformable product-identification dome is arranged to extend downwardly away from the closure in response to a downward deformation force being applied to the deformable product-identification dome. 9. The lid of claim 1 , wherein the first transparency is defined at least by a haze of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement being between about 20% and about 70% as measured using ASTM D 1003 procedure B. 10. A lid comprising a brim mount adapted to couple to a container, and a closure coupled to the brim mount and adapted to at least partway close an aperture opening into the container, wherein the lid comprises at least 40% by weight polypropylene and a portion of the lid is arranged to move from a first arrangement in which the portion has a first transparency to a second arrangement in which the portion has a second transparency that is different than the first transparency, wherein the lid comprises a polypropylene impact copolymer first resin and a polypropylene impact copolymer second resin, the first resin has a first parts per million antistatic agent content and a first % by weight rubber content, the second resin has a second parts per million antistatic agent content and a second % by weight rubber content, and the first parts per million antistatic agent content is less than the second parts per million antistatic agent content and the first % by weight rubber content is less than the second % by weight rubber content. 11. The lid of claim 10 , wherein the first % by weight rubber content is at least 2 times less than the second % by weight rubber content and the first parts per million antistatic agent content is at least 2 times less than the second parts per million antistatic agent content. 12. The lid of claim 10 , wherein the first transparency is defined at least by a haze of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement being between about 20% and about 70% as measured using ASTM D 1003 procedure B. 13. A lid comprising a brim mount adapted to couple to a container, and a closure coupled to the brim mount and adapted to at least partway close an aperture opening into the container, wherein a portion of the lid is arranged to move from a first arrangement in which the portion has a first transparency to a second arrangement in which the portion has a second transparency that is different than the first transparency, wherein the first transparency of the lid is defined by a clarity of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement being between about 45% and about 95% as measured using ASTM D 1746 and wherein a delta lightness value between a lightness of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement and the lightness of the portion of the lid in the second arrangement is about 10 or greater, wherein the lid comprises a polypropylene impact copolymer first resin and a polypropylene impact copolymer second resin, the first resin has a first parts per million antistatic agent content and a first % by weight rubber content, the second resin has a second parts per million antistatic agent content and a second % by weight rubber content, and the first parts per million antistatic agent content is less than the second parts per million antistatic agent content and the first % by weight rubber content is less than the second % by weight rubber content so that the portion of the lid is configured to change from the first transparency in the first arrangement to the second transparency in the second arrangement while minimizing migration of the antistatic agent content during manufacture of the lid. 14. The lid of claim 13 , wherein the lid comprises between about 65% and about 95% by weight of the first resin and between about 5% and 35% by weight the second resin. 15. The lid of claim 13 , wherein the first % by weight rubber content is at least 2 times less than the second % by weight rubber content and the first parts per million antistatic agent content is at least 2 times less than the second parts per million antistatic agent content. 16. The lid of claim 13 , wherein the lid includes a deformable product-identification dome coupled to the closure, the deformable product-identification dome is the portion of the lid arranged to move from the first arrangement in which the deformable product-identification dome extends upwardly away from the closure to the second arrangement in which the deformable product-identification dome is arranged to extend downwardly away from the closure in response to a downward deformation force being applied to the deformable product-identification dome. 17. The lid of claim 13 , wherein the first transparency is further defined by a haze of the portion of the lid in the first arrangement being between about 20% and about 70% as measured using ASTM D 1003 procedure B.
