A method of customizing a golf club, wherein the method includes generating operating data representative of a user operating a mechanical device. The operating data is generated by a first sensor sized and configured to be removably positioned in a mounting port formed on the mechanical device during operation of the mechanical device. The sensor is interchangeably positionable in the mounting port with at least one mass insert, the at least one mass insert being adapted to be interchangeably positioned in the mounting to provide at least two different mass configurations. The method further includes determining a recommended configuration of the at least one mass insert specific to the user based on the operating data generated by the sensor, and transmitting information representative of the recommended mass insert.

What is claimed is: 1. A golf club head comprising: a crown; a sole opposite the crown; a heel; a toe opposite the heel; a striking face; a rear portion opposite the striking face; a mounting port that extends internally through the golf club head and includes a forward end proximate the striking face and a rear opening proximate the rear portion; and an insert that is sized and configured to be removably insertable through the rear opening, the insert including: a plurality of side walls that extend from the forward end to the rear opening; a plurality of threaded recesses located on the plurality of side walls; a weight element having a threaded shaft that is configured to be removably securable within a threaded recess of the plurality of threaded recesses; and a sensor configured to generate sensor data associated with the golf club head. 2. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of side walls forms a prismatic shape. 3. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the threaded recess is a first threaded recess, and the sensor is removably securable within a second threaded recess of the plurality of threaded recesses. 4. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the sensor includes an accelerometer. 5. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the sensor includes a gyroscope. 6. The golf club head of claim 1 , further comprising a fastener configured to secure the insert to the golf club head. 7. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the insert includes a resilient coating. 8. The golf club head of claim 7 , wherein the resilient coating comprises a polymer. 9. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the mounting port is arcuate, and the insert is arcuate such that the insert is shaped to correspond with the mounting port. 10. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein a port axis defined by the mounting port is angularly offset from the striking face. 11. A golf club head comprising: a crown; a sole opposite the crown; a heel; a toe opposite the heel; a striking face; a rear portion opposite the striking face; a mounting port that extends internally through the golf club head and includes a forward end proximate the striking face and a rear opening proximate the rear portion; and an insert that is sized and configured to be removably insertable through the rear opening, the insert including: a plurality of side walls that extend from the forward end to the rear opening; a plurality of recesses located on the plurality of side walls, the plurality of recesses including at least one threaded recess and at least one sensor recess; a weight element having a threaded shaft that is configured to be removably securable within the threaded recess of the plurality of recesses; and a sensor configured to be removably securable within the at least one sensor recess. 12. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the at least one sensor recess comprises a triangular shape and the sensor is substantially triangular such that the sensor corresponds with the at least one sensor recess. 13. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the sensor includes an accelerometer. 14. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the sensor includes a gyroscope. 15. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of side walls forms a prismatic shape. 16. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the insert further includes: a forward end bore; and a fastener that is secured within the forward end bore and secures the insert within the mounting port of the golf club head. 17. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein a port axis defined by the mounting port is angularly offset from the striking face. 18. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the mounting port is arcuate, and the insert is arcuate such that the insert is shaped to correspond with the mounting port. 19. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of threaded recesses are located on each of the plurality of side walls. 20. The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of recesses are located on each of the plurality of side walls.
