The bone plate as recited in claim 1 , wherein the body portion includes a first portion at a first end and a second portion at a second end, and further wherein the first portion and the second portion each includes at least one fastener opening. 3. The bone plate as recited in claim 2 , wherein the second portion of the body portion includes at least one tack opening. 4. The bone plate as recited in claim 2 , wherein the body portion includes a mid-portion disposed between the first and second portions, and further wherein the elongated slot is formed in the mid-portion. 5. The bone plate as recited in claim 1 , wherein the second slotted portion includes a wall including a ramped portion and a surface portion, wherein the ramped portion extends from an outer surface of the body portion toward an inner surface of the body portion, and further wherein the surface portion includes a first dimension between an inner surface of the body portion and the ramped portion along a first side of the second slotted portion, and the surface portion includes a second dimension at a second end of the second slotted portion. 6. The bone plate as recited in claim 5 , wherein an intersection between the ramped portion and the surface portion tapers in a direction extending from the second end of the second slotted portion toward a first end of the second slotted portion. 7. A bone plate, comprising: a body portion; an elongated slot formed through the body portion and including a threaded fastener opening, a first slotted portion adjacent to the threaded fastener opening, and a second slotted portion adjacent to the first slotted portion, wherein the threaded fastener opening is connected to a first end of the first slotted portion and the second slotted portion is connected to a second end of the first slotted portion to establish one continuous slot; and a first plurality of teeth located on a first side of the first slotted portion. 8. The bone plate as recited in claim 7 , wherein the first plurality of teeth protrude inwardly from a wall of the first slotted portion. 9. The bone plate as recited in claim 7 , wherein a second side of the first slotted portion excludes any teeth. 10. The bone plate as recited in claim 7 , wherein a threading of the threaded fastener opening is separate and distinct from any portion of the first plurality of teeth. 11. The bone plate as recited in claim 1 , wherein the threaded fastener opening includes a sidewall extending less than 360 degrees. 12. The bone plate as recited in claim 1 , wherein the threaded fastener opening is separated from the second slotted portion by the first slotted portion. 13. The bone plate as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a transition portion that connects the first slotted portion to the second slotted portion. 14. The bone plate as recited in claim 1 , further comprising an alignment mark formed on the body portion. 15. The bone plate as recited in claim 14 , wherein the alignment mark is formed at a location adjacent to the first slotted portion. 16. The bone plate as recited in claim 15 , wherein the alignment mark is located immediately adjacent to the plurality of teeth of the first slotted portion. 17. A bone plate, comprising: a body portion; and an elongated slot formed through the body portion and including a threaded fastener opening, a first slotted portion, and a second slotted portion, wherein the threaded fastener opening is connected to the first slotted portion and the first slotted portion is connected to the second slotted portion to establish one continuous slot, wherein the first slotted portion includes a plurality of teeth, and wherein the second slotted portion is non-threaded and includes a wall including a ramped portion that tapers from an outer surface of the body portion toward an inner surface of the body portion.
