Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A boat includes a controller that is communicatively coupled to a control screen. The controller has stored therein a plurality of modes corresponding to an activity and includes a plurality of controls corresponding to the activity. The controller is configured to display on the control screen, when one of the modes is activated, the plurality of controls for the activated mode. The activated mode may also be an operating mode that corresponds to an operational condition of the boat. The boat may include a processor that is configured to generate an adjusted audio signal by selecting one or more of a plurality of subranges of frequencies of an audio signal and adjusting the selected subranges to compensate for at least one environmental condition associated with the operational condition of the boat corresponding to the operating mode.

What is claimed is: 1. A boat comprising: a hull including a bow and a stern; a cruise control system configured to maintain the boat at a set speed; a ballast system having at least one ballast tank; at least one wake-adjustment device moveable between a deployed position and a non-deployed position, wherein, in the deployed position, the wake-adjustment device is configured to do at least one of the following: (i) produce lift on the stern of the boat and (ii) modify the shape of the wake relative to the shape of the wake when the wake-adjustment device is in its non-deployed position; a control console including a control screen; and a controller communicatively coupled to the control screen, the controller including a processor and a memory, the memory having stored therein a plurality of modes including at least a first mode and a second mode, each mode corresponding to an activity for which the boat is capable of being used and including a plurality of controls corresponding to the activity that are displayable on the control screen, the first mode of the plurality of modes corresponding to a water sport, the controls of the first mode corresponding to the water sport and including one or more unique user-selectable options that are not included in the second mode, the one or more unique user-selectable options being configured to (i) activate the cruise control system, (ii) set the set speed of the cruise control system, (iii) adjust the ballast in the ballast tank, and (iv) move the at least one wake-adjustment device to the deployed position, the second mode of the plurality of modes corresponding to an activity for which the boat is capable of being used other than the water sport, the controller being configured to display on the control screen, when one of the modes is activated, the plurality of controls for the activated mode. 2. The boat of claim 1 , further comprising: a plurality of speakers; and an audio system communicatively coupled to the controller and configured to output sound from the plurality of speakers, wherein the plurality of controls in the second mode includes one or more controls for operating the audio system. 3. The boat of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of controls in the second mode includes at least one of a control to activate the cruise control system, a control for the ballast system configured to fill the at least one ballast tank, and a control for the ballast system configured to empty the at least one ballast tank. 4. The boat of claim 1 , wherein the ballast system includes a plurality of ballast tanks, and wherein the plurality of controls in the second mode includes a control for the ballast system configured to fill all of the ballast tanks of the plurality of ballast tanks and a control for the ballast system configured to empty all of the ballast tanks of the plurality of ballast tanks. 5. A boat comprising: a hull including a bow and a stern; a water-sports system; a control console including a control screen; and a controller communicatively coupled to the control screen, the controller including a processor and a memory, the memory having stored therein a plurality of modes, each mode corresponding to an activity for which the boat is capable of being used and including a set of user-selectable options, the set of user-selectable options for each mode having a plurality of user-selectable options corresponding to the activity for that mode, one of the modes of the plurality of modes being a water-sport mode and another one of the modes of the plurality of modes being a non-sport mode, the water-sport mode including at least one user-selectable option that configures the water-sports system according to at least one setting saved in the memory for the water sport being performed, the controller being configured to display on the control screen, when one of the modes is activated, the set of user-selectable options for the activated mode. 6. The boat of claim 5 , wherein the water-sports system includes at least one ballast tank, and a setting saved in the memory for the water sport includes a water level in the at least one ballast tank. 7. The boat of claim 5 , wherein the water-sports system includes a cruise control system configured to maintain the boat at a set speed, and a setting saved in the memory for the water sport includes a predetermined set speed for the cruise control system. 8. The boat of claim 5 , wherein the water-sports system includes at least one wake-adjustment device, the wake-adjustment device being moveable between a deployed position and a non-deployed position, wherein, in the deployed position, the wake-adjustment device is configured to do at least one of the following: (i) produce lift on the stern of the boat and (ii) modify the shape of the wake relative to the shape of the wake when the wake-adjustment device is in its non-deployed position, and wherein a setting saved in the memory for the water sport includes a predetermined non-deployed position for the wake-adjustment device. 9. The boat of claim 8 , wherein the wake-adjustment device is a central trim device positioned to span the centerline of the boat. 10. The boat of claim 9 , wherein the boat is capable of being used for water skiing, and wherein the set of user-selectable options for the water-sports mode includes a user selectable option for water skiing. 11. The boat of claim 8 , wherein the water-sports system includes a port-side wake-adjustment device on the port side of the boat and a starboard-side wake-adjustment device on the starboard side of the boat. 12. The boat of claim 11 , wherein the boat is capable of being used for wake surfing, and wherein the set of user-selectable options for the water sports mode includes a user-selectable option for surfing on the port side of the boat and a user-selectable option for surfing on the starboard side of the boat. 13. The boat of claim 12 , wherein the user-selectable option for surfing on the port side of the boat includes a predetermined non-deployed position for the wake-adjustment device on the starboard side of the boat and the user-selectable option for surfing on the starboard side of the boat includes a predetermined non-deployed position for the wake-adjustment device on the port side of the boat. 14. A boat comprising: an engine configured to propel the boat through the water; a control console including a control screen; a plurality of controls displayable on the control screen, each control of the plurality of controls being configured to control at least one aspect of at least one system of a plurality of systems for operating the boat; and a controller communicatively coupled to the control screen, the controller including a processor and a memory, the memory having stored therein a plurality of modes, each mode corresponding to an activity for which the boat is capable of being used and including a subset of the plurality of controls, the subset corresponding to the activity, one of the modes of the plurality of modes being a propulsion mode and another one of the modes of the plurality of modes being a non-propulsion mode, the subset of the plurality of controls for the propulsion mode being different from the subset of the plurality of controls for the non-propulsion mode, wherein the boat is capable of being used for boating activities when the boat is not moving through the water and the subset of the plurality of controls for the non-propulsion mode correspond to boating activities when the boat is not moving through the water, the controller being configured to display on the control
