A tool storage system includes a tool storage container configured to receive therein a battery for a power tool with an inductive receiving unit. An inductive transmitting unit is coupled to the tool storage container and configured to receive a source of electrical power. The inductive transmitting unit is configured to induce generation of electrical power in the inductive receiving unit to charge the battery. A controller is configured to control generation of electrical power by the inductive receiving unit based on a position or alignment of the inductive receiving unit relative to the inductive transmitting unit.

What is claimed is: 1. A tool storage system comprising: a tool storage container configured to receive therein a battery for a power tool with an inductive receiving unit and a controller configured to control charging of the battery, an inductive transmitting unit coupled to the tool storage container and configured to receive a source of electrical power, the inductive transmitting unit configured to induce generation of electrical power in the inductive receiving unit to charge the battery, and wherein the controller is configured to interact with the inductive receiving unit but not the inductive transmitting unit to control generation of electrical power by the inductive receiving unit based on a position or alignment of the inductive receiving unit relative to the inductive transmitting unit. 2. The tool storage system of claim 1 , wherein the inductive transmitting unit comprises a first coil and the inductive receiving unit comprises a second coil. 3. The tool storage system of claim 2 , wherein the first coil is configured to generate a magnetic field which is employed by the second coil to generate electrical power to charge the battery. 4. The tool storage system of claim 3 , wherein the battery for the power tool is configured to be oriented relative to the tool storage container in a predetermined manner to orient the magnetic field of the first coil relative to the second coil in a predetermined manner. 5. The tool storage system of claim 1 , wherein the tool storage container comprises one of a tool box, a kit box, and a tool storage box. 6. The tool storage system of claim 5 , wherein the tool storage container comprises a cavity configured to receive the battery for the power tool. 7. The tool storage system of claim 1 , wherein the inductive transmitting unit is configured to receive at least one of a source of AC power and a source of DC power. 8. The tool storage system of claim 1 , wherein the inductive transmitting unit further comprises a switchable power supply. 9. The tool storage system of claim 1 , wherein the battery is disposed in a chuck of the power tool. 10. The tool storage system of claim 1 , wherein the battery is configured to power a light unit coupled to the power tool. 11. The tool storage system of claim 1 , wherein the tool storage container is configured to receive and charge a plurality of batteries for power tools. 12. A storage system comprising: a storage container configured to receive therein a rechargeable battery for an electrically powered device with an inductive receiving unit and a controller configured to control charging of the battery, an inductive transmitting unit coupled to the storage container and configured to receive a source of electrical power, the inductive transmitting unit configured to induce generation of electrical power in the inductive receiving unit to charge the battery, and wherein the controller is configured to interact with the inductive receiving unit but not the inductive transmitting unit to control generation of electrical power by the inductive receiving unit based on a position or alignment of the inductive receiving unit relative to the inductive transmitting unit. 13. The storage system of claim 12 , wherein the inductive transmitting unit comprises a first coil and the inductive receiving unit comprises a second coil. 14. The storage system of claim 13 , wherein the first coil is configured to generate a magnetic field which is employed by the second coil to generate the electrical power to charge the battery. 15. The storage system of claim 14 , wherein the battery is configured to be oriented relative to the storage container in a predetermined manner to orient the magnetic field of the first coil relative to the second coil in a predetermined manner. 16. The storage system of claim 12 , wherein the storage container comprises one of a pegboard, a holster, a tool box, a kit box, a battery charger, a radio, and a tool storage box. 17. The storage system of claim 16 , wherein the storage container comprises a cavity configured to receive the battery. 18. The storage system of claim 12 , wherein the electrically powered device comprises one of a power tool, a hand-held tool, a light, an alarm, a speaker, a signaling device, or a sensor. 19. A storage system comprising: a storage container; an electrically powered device with a rechargeable battery, a controller configured to control charging of the battery, and an inductive receiving unit receivable in the storage container; an inductive transmitting unit coupled to the storage container and configured to receive a source of electrical power, the inductive transmitting unit configured to induce generation of electrical power in the inductive receiving unit to charge the battery, and wherein the controller is configured to interact with the inductive receiving unit but not the inductive transmitting unit to control generation of electrical power by the inductive receiving unit based on a position or alignment of the inductive receiving unit relative to the inductive transmitting unit. 20. The storage system of claim 19 , wherein the electrically powered device comprises one of a power tool, a hand-held tool, a light, an alarm, a speaker, a signaling device, or a sensor.
