A method includes receiving, from a client device associated with a first user, a first request for content of one or more second users of a content platform. The content includes multiple content items and metadata associated with each of the content items. The method further includes providing, to the client device, a modified version of the metadata associated with each of the content items for presentation to the first user via the client device. The method further includes receiving, from the client device, a second request to access an unmodified version of the metadata. The method further includes providing the unmodified version of the metadata for presentation with the content items to the first user via the client device.

What is claimed is: 1. A method comprising: transmitting, to a client device associated with a user, a notification that a plurality of content items each associated with a distinct user of a plurality of users of a content platform is available for access by the client device; responsive to transmitting the notification, receiving, from the client device, a request for content of the content platform, wherein the content comprises the plurality of content items and metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items; providing, to the client device, a modified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items for presentation to the user via the client device; receiving, from the client device, an additional request to access an unmodified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items; responsive to receiving the additional request, providing the unmodified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items for presentation with the plurality of content items to the user via the client device in accordance with the additional request; and transmitting, to an additional client device associated with at least one distinct additional user of the plurality of users, an additional notification indicating that the client device has provided the additional request to access the unmodified version of the metadata. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the metadata comprises at least one of a title, an identification number, an author, a tag, or a popularity indicator for one or more of the plurality of content items. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: determining that the content item is associated with an option to provide the modified version of the metadata with each of the plurality of content items when the content item is shared between the user and at least one of the plurality of users, wherein the modified version of the metadata is provided for presentation to the user in accordance with the option. 4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising: receiving the content of the plurality of users of the content platform, wherein an indication of the option is included with the received content. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: determining to provide the unmodified version of the metadata for presentation with the plurality of content items to the user via the client device responsive to determining that a metadata modification criterion is satisfied. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the additional request to access the unmodified version of the metadata is received responsive to an input interaction by the user, the input interaction comprising at least one of typing, speaking, tapping, clicking, or swiping an element of a user interface of the client device. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the modified version of the metadata comprises at least one of an illegible version of the metadata or an obscured version of the metadata. 8. A system comprising: a memory; and a processor coupled to the memory, the processor to perform operations comprising: transmitting, to a client device associated with a user, a notification that a plurality of content items each associated with a distinct user of a plurality of users of a content platform is available for access by the client device; responsive to transmitting the notification, receiving, from the client device, a request for content of the content platform, wherein the content comprises the plurality of content items and metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items; providing, to the client device, a modified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items for presentation to the user via the client device; receiving, from the client device, an additional request to access an unmodified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items; responsive to receiving the additional request, providing the unmodified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items for presentation with the plurality of content items to the user via the client device in accordance with the additional request; and transmitting, to an additional client device associated with at least one distinct additional user of the plurality of users, an additional notification indicating that the client device has provided the additional request to access the unmodified version of the metadata. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the metadata comprises at least one of a title, an identification number, an author, a tag, or a popularity indicator for one or more of the plurality of content items. 10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise: determining to provide the unmodified version of the metadata for presentation with the plurality of content items to the user via the client device responsive to determining that a metadata modification criterion is satisfied. 11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the additional request to access the unmodified version of the metadata is received responsive to an input interaction by the user, the input interaction comprising at least one of typing, speaking, tapping, clicking, or swiping an element of a user interface of the client device. 12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise: determining that the content item is associated with an option to provide the modified version of the metadata with each of the plurality of content items when the content item is shared between the user and at least one of the plurality of users, wherein the modified version of the metadata is provided for presentation to the user in accordance with the option. 13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the operations further comprise: receiving the content of the plurality of users of the content platform, wherein an indication of the option is included with the received content. 14. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that cause a processing device to perform operations comprising: transmitting, to a client device associated with a user, a notification that a plurality of content items each associated with a distinct user of a plurality of users of a content platform is available for access by the client device; responsive to transmitting the notification, receiving, from the client device, a request for content of the content platform, wherein the content comprises the plurality of content items and metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items; providing, to the client device, a modified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items for presentation to the user via the client device; receiving, from the client device, an additional request to access an unmodified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items; responsive to receiving the additional request, providing the unmodified version of the metadata associated with each of the plurality of content items for presentation with the plurality of content items to the user via the client device in accordance with the additional request; and transmitting, to an additional client device associated with at least one distinct additional user of the plurality of users, an additional notification indicating that the client device has provided the additional request to access the unmodified version of the metadata. 15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the metadata comprises at least one of a title,
