Mounting plates for elevating platforms, including a mounting apparatus with interior and exterior reinforcement components elongated vertically. The interior reinforcement piece includes an embedded bolt that extends from the interior reinforcement piece, through a wall of the platform, and through the exterior reinforcement component. The interior and exterior reinforcement components have a stepped construction to convert peel stress to shear stress.

The invention claimed is: 1. A mounting plate configured to be inserted into one or more slots of a utility platform to thereby support the utility platform, the mounting plate comprising: an internal section positioned along an internal surface of the utility platform during use, the internal section thereby configured to receive an internal compression load associated with the internal surface of the utility platform; an external section positioned along an external surface of the utility platform during use, the external section thereby configured to receive an external compression load associated with the external surface of the utility platform; and a transition portion positioned within the one or more slots of the utility platform during use, the transition portion comprising a first end secured to the internal section and a second end secured to the external section. 2. The mounting plate of claim 1 , wherein the internal section is configured to be positioned above the one or more slots of the utility platform during use and the external section is configured to be positioned below the one or more slots during use. 3. The mounting plate of claim 2 , wherein the external section comprises a first reinforcement component configured to be inserted through a first slot of the one or more slots and a second reinforcement component configured to be inserted through a second slot of the one or more slots. 4. The mounting plate of claim 3 , wherein each of the first reinforcement component and the second reinforcement component comprise a widened bottom portion configured to distribute the external compression load along the external surface of the utility platform. 5. The mounting plate of claim 4 , wherein the internal section comprises an internal reinforcement component with a widened top portion configured to distribute the internal compression load along the internal surface of the utility platform. 6. The mounting plate of claim 1 , wherein the external section comprises a plurality of holes configured to receive a respective plurality of fasteners therein to thereby secure the mounting plate to a mounting assembly associated with a utility boom. 7. A mounting system for a utility platform, the mounting system comprising: a plurality of mounting plates configured to be inserted into one or more slots of the utility platform to thereby support the utility platform, each respective mounting plate of the plurality of mounting plates comprising: an internal section positioned along an internal surface of the utility platform during use, the internal section thereby configured to receive an internal compression load associated with the internal surface of the utility platform; an external section positioned along an external surface of the utility platform during use, the external section thereby configured to receive an external compression load associated with the external surface of the utility platform; and a transition portion positioned within the one or more slots of the utility platform during use, the transition portion comprising a first end secured to the internal section and a second end secured to the external section. 8. The mounting system of claim 7 , wherein the internal section comprises a plurality of holes configured to receive a respective plurality of fasteners therein to thereby secure at least a portion of the mounting system to the utility platform. 9. The mounting system of claim 8 , wherein the internal section comprises a plurality of support ribs disposed around a respective bolt encapsulation area associated with each of the plurality of holes. 10. The mounting system of claim 7 , wherein at least a portion of the mounting system comprises a fiber-reinforced thermoset material. 11. The mounting system of claim 7 , wherein at least a portion of the mounting system comprises a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic material. 12. The mounting system of claim 7 , further comprising: an insulating cap component configured to be placed over at least one fastener of the mounting system. 13. The mounting system of claim 7 , further comprising: an electrically insulating spacer disposed between the utility platform and the external section. 14. A mounting plate assembly configured to be inserted into one or more slots of a utility platform to thereby support the utility platform, the mounting plate assembly comprising: an internal L-shaped section comprising: an internal section stem; and an internal section arm positioned along an internal surface of the utility platform during use, the internal section arm thereby configured to receive an internal compression load associated with the internal surface of the utility platform; an external L-shaped section comprising: an external section stem configured to partially protrude through the one or more slots of the utility platform during use; and an external section arm positioned along an external surface of the utility platform during use, the external section arm thereby configured to receive an external compression load associated with the external surface of the utility platform; and at least one fastener configured to join the internal section stem and the external section stem. 15. The mounting plate assembly of claim 14 , wherein the external L-shaped section further comprises: an additional external section arm disposed opposite the external section arm. 16. The mounting plate assembly of claim 14 , further comprising: an insulating cap disposed over the at least one fastener. 17. The mounting plate assembly of claim 16 , wherein the insulating cap is adhesively bonded in place. 18. The mounting plate assembly of claim 16 , wherein the insulating cap is configured to mechanically lock into place. 19. The mounting plate assembly of claim 14 , wherein each of the internal section stem, the internal section arm, the external section stem, and the external section arm comprise a similar thickness. 20. The mounting plate assembly of claim 14 , further comprising: an electrically insulating spacer disposed between the utility platform and external section arm of the external L-shaped section.
