Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A neurovascular catheter having an elongate flexible tubular body. The body can have a catheter distal face residing on a first plane being at a first nonorthogonal angle relative to the longitudinal axis. The body can have a radiopaque marker being positioned in a distal zone of the tubular body and being proximal to the catheter distal face. The marker can have a marker distal face at least partially residing on a second plane being at a second nonorthogonal angle relative to the longitudinal axis. The first plane can be approximately parallel to the second plane.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A catheter comprising: an elongate flexible tubular body comprising: a catheter distal face residing on a first plane, the first plane crossing a longitudinal axis of the tubular body at a first nonorthogonal angle relative to the longitudinal axis; and a radiopaque marker being positioned in a distal zone of the tubular body and being proximal to the catheter distal face, the marker comprising a marker distal face at least partially residing on a second plane, the second plane crossing the longitudinal axis at a second nonorthogonal angle relative to the longitudinal axis, wherein the first plane is approximately parallel to the second plane, and wherein the second nonorthogonal angle is between about 55 degrees and about 65 degrees. 2. The catheter of claim 1 , wherein the distal zone of the tubular body comprises: a coil; and a jacket at least partially surrounding the coil, the jacket extending distally beyond a distal end of the coil and terminating at the catheter distal face. 3. The catheter of claim 2 , wherein the marker is embedded in the jacket between the distal end of the coil and the catheter distal face. 4. The catheter of claim 2 , wherein the distal zone of the tubular body comprises an inner liner, and wherein the coil at least partially surrounds the inner liner. 5. The catheter of claim 1 , further comprising a filament extending axially from distal end of the catheter towards a proximal end of the catheter, the filament being configured to resist elongation of a side wall of the catheter when under tension. 6. The catheter of claim 5 , wherein the filament comprises a length of at least about 10 cm and at most about 50 cm. 7. A catheter comprising: an elongate flexible tubular body comprising: a tubular body trailing edge; a tubular body leading edge being circumferentially spaced 180 degrees around an outer perimeter of the tubular body from the tubular body trailing edge, the tubular body leading edge extending distally farther than the tubular body trailing edge; a radiopaque marker being proximal to a catheter distal face, the marker comprising: a marker trailing edge; a marker leading edge being circumferentially spaced 180 degrees around an outer perimeter of the marker from the marker trailing edge, the marker leading edge extending distally farther than the marker trailing edge, the marker leading edge being on a same side of the tubular body as the tubular body leading edge; and a marker distal face at least partially residing at a first nonorthogonal angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the tubular flexible body; and a catheter distal face at least partially residing at a second nonorthogonal angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the tubular flexible body, wherein the marker distal face is approximately parallel to the catheter distal face. 8. The catheter of claim 7 , wherein the marker is positioned in a distal zone of the tubular body. 9. The catheter of claim 7 , wherein the first nonorthogonal angle is between about 55 degrees and about 65 degrees. 10. The catheter of claim 7 , wherein the first nonorthogonal angle is between about 55 degrees and about 65 degrees, and wherein the second nonorthogonal angle is between about 55 degrees and about 65 degrees. 11. The catheter of claim 7 , wherein the tubular body comprises: a coil; and a jacket at least partially surrounding the coil, the jacket extending distally beyond a distal end of the coil and terminating at a catheter distal face. 12. The catheter of claim 11 , wherein the marker is embedded in the jacket between the distal end of the coil and the catheter distal face. 13. The catheter of claim 11 , wherein a distal zone of the tubular body comprises an inner liner, and wherein the coil at least partially surrounds the inner liner. 14. The catheter of claim 7 , further comprising a filament extending axially from distal end of the catheter towards a proximal end of the catheter, the filament being configured to resist elongation of a side wall of the catheter when under tension. 15. The catheter of claim 14 , wherein the filament comprises a length of at least about 10 cm and at most about 50 cm. 16. The catheter of claim 14 , wherein the filament comprises a length of at least about 20 cm. 17. A catheter comprising: an elongate flexible tubular body comprising: a catheter distal face residing on a first plane, the first plane crossing a longitudinal axis of the tubular body at a first nonorthogonal angle relative to the longitudinal axis; a radiopaque marker being positioned in a distal zone of the tubular body and being proximal to the catheter distal face, the radiopaque marker comprising a marker distal face at least partially residing on a second plane, the second plane crossing the longitudinal axis at a second nonorthogonal angle relative to the longitudinal axis; and a tension support comprising an axially extending filament, the axially extending filament carried by the elongate flexible tubular body, wherein the first plane is approximately parallel to the second plane. 18. The catheter of claim 17 , wherein the distal zone of the tubular body comprises: a coil; and a jacket at least partially surrounding the coil, the jacket extending distally beyond a distal end of the coil and terminating at the catheter distal face. 19. The catheter of claim 18 , wherein the radiopaque marker is embedded in the jacket between the distal end of the coil and the catheter distal face. 20. The catheter of claim 18 , wherein the distal zone of the tubular body comprises an inner liner, and wherein the coil at least partially surrounds the inner liner. 21. The catheter of claim 17 , wherein the filament extends axially from a distal end of the catheter towards a proximal end of the catheter, the filament being configured to resist elongation of a side wall of the catheter when under tension. 22. The catheter of claim 21 , wherein the filament comprises a length of at least about 10 cm and at most about 50 cm.
