Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods enable one or more players to play a wagering game having virtual cards. A game system includes a game server configured to connect to at least one mobile gaming device over a network. The game server includes a processor configured to provide a wagering game having virtual cards to a player using the gaming device. Each wagering game is played by players at a virtual table who are dealt virtual cards to form a hand, and the hand satisfying a winning criterion is determined to be a winning hand. The game system also includes a database that may be implemented as a non-relational database configured to be connected to the game server. The database is configured to store a state of the hands of each table as a plurality of document-oriented datasets. The mobile gaming device may automatically re-authenticate to the game server after a disconnection.

We claim: 1. A game server comprising: a transceiver for communicating with one or more gaming devices; at least one processor, said at least one processor configured to provide one or more wagering card games played by a plurality of players against one another via user interfaces associated with said one or more gaming devices; a communication link providing communication with at least one database, said at least one database storing a state of the one or more wagering card games; and wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: re-authenticate said one or more gaming devices responsive to said one or more gaming devices seeking to reconnect to the game server after being disconnected from said game server. 2. The game server of claim 1 wherein the database is non-relational. 3. The game server of claim 1 wherein the database stores a state of each wagering game as at least one document-oriented dataset in a non-relational database. 4. The game server of claim 1 wherein the database stores a state of each wagering game hand as at least one document-oriented dataset in a non-relational database. 5. The game server of claim 1 further comprising an authentication token used to authenticate the one or more gaming devices with the at least one processor. 6. The game server of claim 1 wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: enable simultaneously said one or more gaming devices to be associated with a plurality of wagering games from said one or more wagering card games. 7. The game server of claim 1 wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: issue a biometric challenge via said interface of said one or more gaming devices, said biometric challenge required to be passed to automatically re-authenticate. 8. A game server comprising: a transceiver for communicating with one or more gaming devices; at least one processor, said at least one processor configured to provide one or more wagering card games played by a plurality of players against one another at virtual tables via user interfaces associated with said one or more gaming devices; a communication link providing communication with at least one database, said at least one database storing a state of the one or more wagering card games; and wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: re-authenticate said one or more gaming devices responsive to said one or more gaming devices seeking to reconnect to the game server after being disconnected from said game server. 9. The game server of claim 8 wherein the database is non-relational. 10. The game server of claim 8 wherein the database stores a state of each wagering game as at least one document-oriented dataset in a non-relational database. 11. The game server of claim 8 wherein the database stores a state of each wagering game hand as at least one document-oriented dataset in a non-relational database. 12. The game server of claim 8 further comprising an authentication token used to authenticate the one or more gaming devices with the at least one processor. 13. The game server of claim 8 wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: enable simultaneously said one or more gaming devices to be associated with a plurality of wagering games from said one or more wagering card games. 14. The game server of claim 8 wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: issue a biometric challenge via said interface of said one or more gaming devices, said biometric challenge required to be passed to automatically re-authenticate. 15. A game server comprising: a transceiver for communicating with one or more gaming devices; at least one processor, said at least one processor configured to provide one or more wagering card games played by a plurality of players against one another at virtual gaming tables via user interfaces associated with said one or more gaming devices; a communication link providing communication with at least one non-relational database, said at least one database storing a state of the one or more wagering card games, wherein the non-relational database stores a state of each wagering game and wagering game hand as at least one document-oriented dataset; and wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: re-authenticate said one or more gaming devices responsive to said one or more gaming devices seeking to reconnect to the game server after being disconnected from said game server. 16. The game server of claim 15 further comprising an authentication token used to authenticate the one or more gaming devices with the at least one processor. 17. The game server of claim 15 wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: enable simultaneously said one or more gaming devices to be associated with a plurality of wagering games from said one or more wagering card games. 18. The game server of claim 15 wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: issue a biometric challenge via said interface of said one or more gaming devices, said biometric challenge required to be passed to automatically re-authenticate. 19. The game server of claim 15 wherein said at least one processor provides a first plurality of virtual gaming tables within a first virtual poker room and a second plurality of virtual gaming tables within a second virtual poker room. 20. The game server of claim 19 wherein said at least one processor is further configured to: issue a biometric challenge via said interface of said one or more gaming devices, said biometric challenge required to be passed to automatically re-authenticate.
